Occupancy permit issued for new apartment complex: Residents able to move in

September 4, 2018 -

Earlier today, City officials met with the building's owner at 630 Princess.

"Staff re-inspected the property and have issued an occupancy permit for the residential units," said Lisa Capener-Hunt, chief building official. "The property owner is now working with tenants to plan the moves into the building."

On Friday, the City was unable to issue an occupancy permit for the new apartment building because it did not meet the minimum requirements set out in the Ontario Building Code.

City officials say the safety of tenants is a top priority.

The City will continue working with the owner, Stelmach Project Management Ltd., to complete unoccupied areas of the building. This 31-unit complex has 93 bedrooms.
