On-street parking is changing in the Williamsville area

September 26, 2017 -

New weekday time-of-day restrictions go into effect on a number of Williamsville streets north of Princess as of Oct. 1 to help balance the long-term and short-term parking demands in this area.

You don't need a permit if you can park according to the posted time-of-use restrictions in the area north of Princess Street between MacDonnell and Division (up to York Street east of the Memorial Centre and up to Concession west of it).

"This is another high-demand area for parking. The time-of-use restrictions help manage the demand in a way that balances the needs of residents, shoppers and commuters," says Kim Leonard, manager parking operations. "This neighbourhood  is very well-served by Kingston Transit."

A limited number of on-street parking permits for commuters are being offered in the area – Williamsville North Neighbourhood (Area F) – for $83.25 a month. Residents of the area are being offered on-street permits for $25 a month (or $12 a month for those who do not have on-site parking). Go to CityofKingston.ca/Parking to find out more and add your name to the permit wait-list.

This approach to on-street parking is working well in the other high-demand residential areas of Kingston where it has been implemented.
