ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge kicks off City's Outdoor Aqua Park summer season
May 24, 2019 -
Starting Saturday, June 1, the City of Kingston's Outdoor Aqua Park will be open weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located at 303 York St., the outdoor aqua park offers residents an affordable way to have active fun all summer long.
"Nothing says summer like a trip to Kingston's outdoor aqua park," says Erica McPherson, supervisor, aquatic programs with the City of Kingston. "Zip down the 10-metre waterslide, float on the lazy river, swim laps, splash in the tot pool – the choices are endless."
Drop-in daytime admission is $3.75 per person, evening admission is $2.50 per person and 12-visit and season passes are available. City of Kingston FitPasses are also accepted at this facility.
The Outdoor Aqua Park will offer extended operating days and hours beginning June 22. Weather-related closures and cancellations are shared at www.CityofKingston.ca/WaterPark.
Help Kingston be named "Canada's Most Active Community"
Take the Rescue Challenge on opening day to help Kingston earn the title Canada's Most Active Community! On June 1, the Outdoor Aqua Park will host a ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge Try-It event to introduce residents to a physical activity they may not have experienced before. Drop in anytime on opening day to try the Rescue Challenge – three different National Lifeguard skills including a timed swim, stride jump and rescue aid throws. Gather a group of friends to create a team and see if you can beat the City's lifeguards!
Top Rescue Challenge participants will be eligible for great prizes. Pre-registration is not required, and event participation is included in your Outdoor Aqua Park admission fee.
Information about the City's wading pool, splash pads and the outdoor aqua park's amenities can be found at www.CityofKingston.ca/Aquatics.
