null Population, Housing and Employment Projection Study summary of findings to be presented at public open house
June 18, 2013 -
Interested in how the City is projected to grow between now and 2041? The project consultant will discuss finding, to date, on the Population, Housing and Employment Projections Study at a public meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 in Rooms A&B at the INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd. A presentation will be made at 6:30 p.m.
"These projections may be of interest to institutions, organizations and businesses and others concerned with planning," says Cherie Mills, Manager, Policy Planning.
The City's Population, Housing and Employment Projections Study considers Statistics Canada's 2011 Census data and other new information to update projections completed in 2008 by TeraTrends. The Study looks toward 2041. It will offer low, medium and high-range projections at five-year intervals.
The Study covers the City of the Kingston and the Kingston Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) which includes the City and the Townships of South Frontenac, Loyalist and Frontenac Islands.
These projections are part of the update to the City's Official Plan and will assist decision-makers with planning for the future by offering insight on how demographics, housing and employment are expected to change. The City will use the projections as the basis for recommendations on planning, infrastructure development and service delivery.
This is the second public meeting offering an update on this Study which should be finalized by October.
