Property Tax Payments Due By February 28

Kingston's property owners should now have received their property tax bills in their mailboxes. Tax bills for all property classes were mailed February 1.

Owners with property assessed in both the capped (commercial, industrial and multi-residential) and uncapped (residential, farm and managed forest) property classes should receive two bills.

The deadline for payment is Thursday, Feb. 28. Those who have not received their bills as expected should contact the Customer Service at the City at 613-546-0000.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not excuse a ratepayer from the responsibility for payment nor relieve the liability of penalty for late payment. A penalty of 1.25 per cent is charged on unpaid installments on the first day of default and interest of 1.25 per cent is charged on the first day of each month thereafter. Penalty and interest charges cannot be waived.

February 28, 2013 is the last day eligible property owners can apply for the City's tax rebate programs for 2012. These include: the Registered Charity Property Rebate Program and the Rebate for Vacant Units in Commercial or Industrial Property.
