Public Meeting - Changes to Fees and Charges Bylaw

The City invites members of the public to a public meeting to review proposed changes to the Fees and Charges Bylaw for Planning Applications.

Section 69 of the Planning Act authorizes municipalities to charge fees for the processing of planning applications, which fees shall be designed to meet only the anticipated cost to the municipality in respect of the processing of each type of application provided for in the tariff.

The purpose of this public meeting to present proposed fee increases for zoning bylaw amendments for developments in excess of 3000 square metres of floor area or 50 dwelling units; consent applications for new lot creation; requests for securities reduction through the site plan control process; and, site plan control modifications. A new fee is proposed for the Pre-Application Process which is a process that currently does not have any associated fees.

The application types identified in this public meeting report represent minor changes on high volume application types where we are currently not receiving fees or are under recovering. The fees would be in effect as of January 1, 2019, as part of the annual Fees and Charges Bylaw update.
