Public Notice - Intention to stop up, permanently close part of, declare surplus and dispose of municipal property on Napier Street

February 15, 2019 –

Pursuant to the City's Public Notice Policy and the Disposition of Real Property Policy take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston intends to stop up and permanently close the following municipal property:

Land affected: Part of Napier Street between Brock Street and Mack Street, designated as Parts 1 and 2 on Reference Plan 13R-21947; City of Kingston, County of Frontenac.

And, pursuant to the City's Public Notice Policy and the Disposition of Real Property Policy take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston intends to stop up and permanently close, declare surplus and dispose of the following municipal property:

Land affected: Part of Napier Street between Brock Street and Mack Street, designated as Part 2 on Reference Plan 13R-21947; City of Kingston, County of Frontenac.

Explanatory note: In accordance with the motion endorsed by City Council on July 11 2017 Napier Street between Brock Street and Mack Street is to be closed and a portion will be added to the adjacent property located at 244 Mack Street to provide driveway access that will be lost due to the road closure. The majority of the one block of road to be closed will be retained by the City to be incorporated into the development of new public park space. A by-law to permanently stop up and close the subject road is required and Council needs to declare surplus the portion to be transferred to 244 Mack Street. 

City Council will consider these matters on March 5, 2019 at 7:30 pm at its regular meeting to be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Kingston.

Anyone wishing to be heard regarding these matters should contact the Clerk's Office or provide written comments before 4:00 pm, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.

In the event that the matter is deferred, no further public notice will be given.
