Residents invited to test an interactive mapping tool
August 28, 2018 -
The City is developing an online tool that uses geo-enabled information to create an interactive map. The map will offer users the ability to search and discover City programs, services, facilities and projects within an area of Kingston.
"We're expanding on our capabilities by integrating the mapping tool with the City's website. We want to simplify the user experience by offering one central source that brings information together from many City systems and resources, "says Jeff Bumstead, chief information officer.
My Neighbourhood (proposed name) helps deliver on the City's open government strategic priority which includes Open Data Kingston – datasets the City offers to anyone who wishes to use them.
Help us test an Interactive Mapping Tool
As part of the development of My Neighbourhood, the project team is inviting residents to test the new mapping tool and help prioritize datasets and topics, capture additional information and determine if the proposed name is appropriate, in preparation for the official launch later this year.
Complete the Survey by Sept. 21
After testing the tool, complete the survey at GetInvolved.CityofKingston.ca by 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. The results of the feedback will help the City develop a framework to guide the future release of datasets.
