This year the City is aiming to make its New Year's Eve celebration – K-Town Countdown – bigger and better than ever by moving it to the INVISTA Centre. This family-friendly event will still take place from 5 to 9 p.m., but the move to the INVISTA Centre allows the City to offer more public skating, staged performances and lots of free activities to ring in 2020, including:

Free activities from 5-9 p.m.

  • public skating in three rinks, each featuring music from a different radio station for different skating interests and abilities
    • DJ skate party on the Swish Rink with Rogers K-Rock 105.7
    • DJ skate party on the Selkirk Rink with Fresh 104.3
    • Pure Country 99 on the Kingston Transit rink for families, parents and tots. Skating aids are permitted om this rink.
    • All public skating rules are in effect, including skaters 10 and under are required to wear a helmet with a mask.
  • ice dancing and figure skating performances on the Desjardins Agents Insurance Rink
  • self-guided visits of the Original Hockey Hall of Fame
  • activities and performers throughout the evening:
    • Zoo to You educational animal exhibit
    • Costume characters Chase, Olaf and Peppa Pig and spinning prize wheel by Playtrium
    • mobile hair salon
    • face-painting
    • glitter tattoos
    • fun photo booths
    • Wishing Trees

Scheduled performances

  • strolling magic by Mike D'Urzo (5:30 to 7 p.m.)
  • magic shows (7 p.m. stage show)
  • ventriloquist (6 p.m. stage show)
  • mentalist Mike D’Urzo and his Mind Kontrol show (8 p.m. stage show)

Food and drinks

  • The INVISTA Centre canteen will be open from 5-9 p.m. and will offer a limited range of menu items including hot dogs, French fries, chips and other grab-and-go items. Regular menu prices apply. 
  • Bring your refillable bottle to fill up at the water fountains.

Skate sharpening by Pro Graphics

PG Sports Pro Shop will be open 4-9 p.m. Skate sharpening will be available for $8/pair. Helmets with cages will also be available for purchase. PG Sports Pro Shop is located on the first level of the INVISTA Centre

Getting to the INVISTA Centre

  • The INVISTA Centre is located at 1350 Gardiners Rd., Kingston, Ontario. Free parking is available onsite. Accessible parking is available at the north and south entrances of the facility.
  • Kingston Transit will be running their regular weekday service on Dec. 31. Remember, youth 14 and under travel free on Kingston Transit. Plan to get there by bus using the Trip Planner at KingstonTransit.ca or your favourite transit app.
