Sheep Dog Trials Festival presented by Subaru of Kingston - Aug 9 to 11

Buy tickets now: pay only $10 a person by buying your day passes by Aug. 8 at www.ticketpro.ca. On Aug. 9, tickets will be $15 per person online and at the gate during the event. Kids ages 12 and under are free!

The Kingston Sheep Dog Trials Festival presented by Subaru of Kingston returns to Grass Creek Park from Friday, Aug. 9 to Sunday, Aug. 11 with tons of family and pet-friendly fun! The yearly festival has made the Festivals and Events Ontario's Top 100 list 11 years straight, so you definitely won't want to miss it

Schedule of events

The sheep dog trials run daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Festival attractions run throughout the weekend and include a wide variety of activities and demonstrations. All activities run rain or shine. Follow the City on Twitter or Facebook for updates. 

Daily ongoing activities

  • Sheep Dog Trials Competition: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily
  • Dog Lovers Days - Canadian Canine Lure Course: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • Doggie Play Zone: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • The Market Place: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • Kingston Police K-9 Demonstrations: 11 a.m. daily
  • DockDogs Worldwide: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • Kingston Police – Mobile Engagement Trailer: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
  • Durham Agricultural Exhibit: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • Face Painting: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
  • Fallen Willow Forge - Blacksmith Demos : 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
  • Wolf Creek Carvings - Chainsaw Demos: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

  • Long & McQuade Musical Petting Zoo:
    • Friday, August 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The WoofJocks Canine All Stars:
    • Friday at 9:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., Sunday 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
  • Kingston Police Mounted Unit:
    • Friday & Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Spinning and Weaving Demos:
    • Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sheep-to-Shawl Competition:
    • Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Shawl Auction:
    • Sunday at 12 p.m.

If you plan to bring your dog along, please be sure to keep him/her on a leash while roaming the grounds. Don't forget your sunscreen and refillable water bottle for the Utilities Kingston water buggy!

Free shuttle and parking

Grass Creek Park is located at 2991 Highway 2. A free shuttle bus will run from the Toys R Us parking lot, the Kingston Memorial Centre and the Marriott Hotel at Kings Crossing. Shuttles are dog-friendly, as long as they are kept on a leash. There will be limited parking at Grass Creek Park.

Accessibility

Accessible parking, drop-off areas, portable washrooms, seating areas, assistive hearing devices and mat-paths will be on-site throughout the event. Contact Emily Hatchette at ehatchette@cityofkingston.ca with any concerns about accessibility.

Closures

Grass Creek Beach will be open by admission only from Aug. 9 to 11. The dog park will close to the public from Aug. 3 to 12. The boat launch will close Aug. 7 to 12.
