Sign-up for a free visit from Kingston Fire & Rescue

August 13, 2019 -

Working fire and carbon monoxide alarms save lives. To help keep you safe, Kingston Fire & Rescue (KFR) is hosting its sixth annual Wake Up Kingston campaign. As part of this initiative, KFR will offer free visits to the first 100 residents to sign up at GetInvolved.CityofKingston.ca/Wake-up.

"Many fire deaths occur in the home at night when people are sleeping.  You must be able to rely on those smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to wake everyone up," says chief fire prevention officer Ted Posadowski.

Studies show having working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms reduces the risk of death by nearly 50 per cent.

During the home visits firefighters will:

  • ensure working fire and carbon monoxide alarms are located beside the sleeping areas or your home; and
  • answer any fire prevention or safety questions you may have.

The home visits will be scheduled at a time convenient to the homeowners. Sign up for one at GetInvolved.CityofKingston.ca/Wake-up.
