Special Council meeting to reconsider motion affecting 305-323 Rideau St.

The City Clerk is calling a special meeting of Council to consider a motion – moved by Councillor Lisa Osanic and seconded by Councillor Rob Hutchison – to revisit an April 15, 2014 Council decision, which will impact the property at 305-323 Rideau St. 

The Council meeting will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. 

City Clerk John Bolognone has called the special meeting after being petitioned by eight members of Council who wish to reopen discussions. The official motion is as follows:

THAT the following motion approved by Council on April 15, 2014, be reconsidered:

THAT the City purchase the portion of 5 Cataraqui Street that is required for the Wellington Street Extension, and all of the property known as 305-323 Rideau Street, and that an amount not to exceed $735,000 be approved for the purchase price, the City's closing costs, land surveying and due diligence as required with $405,000 of the funding sourced from the Development Charges Fund and $330,000 of the funding sourced from the Municipal Capital Reserve Fund; and

THAT the Mayor and Clerk by authorized to sign the Agreement of Purchase and Sale and all other documents required to complete the purchase in a form satisfactory to the Director of Legal Services.
