Statement from the Mayor - Let's have a successful Queen's homecoming

October 17, 2013 -

‘Let's have a successful Queen's homecoming'

This weekend hundreds of alumni, family and friends travel back to Kingston for the second of two Queen's homecomings. This weekend gives us another unique opportunity to showcase the best of our community and celebrate the rich history of Queen's and Kingston.

As a Queen's grad and now Mayor, I appreciate the energy and economic impact these events bring to our City and the hard work of all those involved to help make them happen.

I, like many of our community partners, look forward to a considerate weekend where tradition meets celebration. As we gear up, I am calling on all those taking part this weekend to keep the celebration(s) respectful and in the true spirit of the tradition.

As Kingstonians, we all have a vested interest in the success of these events and the responsibility to ensure they reflect our community.

I look forward to continuing to work with the Queen's administration, the AMS and our community partners to make sure this and any future homecomings are successful.

Sincerely,

Mark Gerretsen
Mayor of Kingston
