Tourism Kingston conducting online visitor survey on City Wi-Fi network

June 17, 2019 -

Tourism Kingston today launched a voluntary and anonymous online visitor survey designed to collect valuable data that will be used to improve tourism services in Kingston. The survey is being deployed on the City of Kingston's guest Wi-Fi network, available for free at City-owned facilities.

Individuals will be prompted to complete the one-minute survey when they connect a device to the network. The survey begins by requesting the participant's postal code and users who enter a Kingston postal code will be automatically opted-out of the survey. Visitors can decide to opt-out of the survey at any point during the completion process and will not see the survey for another 60 days unless they clear their browsing history. Opting out of the survey will not impact users' access to the network.

The survey does not request any sensitive personal information i.e. Name, detailed address, phone number or email. All responses are anonymous and no device ID or user device information is captured or stored. All responses will be aggregated in a report.
