Transit free on Princess St. Promenade day
July 28, 2014 -
Come on and take a free ride on Kingston Transit to get to the Princess St. Promenade street festival – or anywhere else – on Saturday, Aug. 2.
"Taking Kingston Transit is a great, healthy and environmentally-friendly way for residents and visitors to get around our vibrant city and enjoy all it has to offer on a summer's day," says Sheila Kidd, Director of Transportation Services.
Riding Kingston Transit is free city-wide all day on August 2 to promote active transportation – one of the key objectives of the Princess St. Promenade festival. Kingston's main street will be closed from 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. between Barrie and Ontario Streets.
This DowntownKingston! event is designed to make Princess Street a pedestrian-friendly, motor-free zone for the day to celebrate our lovely and lively downtown and promote the use of active transportation (walking, cycling, or riding public transit) to get there.
Retailers, restaurants and other Promenade participants offer activities throughout this day-long event.
