UPDATE: Artillery Park Pools reopen
November 13, 2017 -
UPDATE: Nov. 15, 2017 - The pools at Artillery Park have reopened following approved water test results by KFL&A Public Health. Regular programming will resume at 5 p.m.
Nov 13: Artillery Park Pools closed for water testing
The pools at Artillery Park Aquatic Centre remain closed following the discovery of a bacteria during routine water testing last week by KFL&A Public Health. This bacteria is a direct result of a pool fouling.
Over the weekend, the City hyper-chlorinated the pools and conducted a deep clean of the facility. It takes 13 hours to circulate the chlorine through the filtration system.
KFL&A Public Health repeated their water tests on Monday, Nov. 13. Updates regarding the reopening of the pools will be posted on the City's website.
Registered aquatic program participants have been contacted by phone. If you are registered in an aquatic program and have not received a phone call or message, please call 613-546-4291 ext. 1700 or 1800 to confirm your contact phone and email address.
City pools are operated according to Provincial regulations for public swimming pools to ensure the safety of all users. Pool foulings are not uncommon. Find out how you can help prevent a pool fouling at www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/recreation/programs/aquatics/public-swim-rules.
