Urban K&P Trail construction moves to Railway Street/Hickson Avenue areas

August 31, 2016 -

Clearing of some vegetation to prepare for the construction of the off-road urban K&P Trail has started from Railway Street to Hickson Avenue. The northern portion of the trail is just west of Veterans Ball Field (Legion 560).

Work will include clearing and grubbing of vegetation, the removal of garbage and debris, and slope stabilization. Construction of the trail itself will occur later this Fall. To provide access for construction, and to ensure a safe public space, the width of the area being cleared of trees will extend beyond the footprint of the trail.

The asphalt trail will be 3 metres wide. Way-finding signage will be installed at key points along the trail. Planting of native trees and shrubs will occur in the Spring of 2017
