null Utilities Kingston and City host FREE Safety Days for invited staff and contractors
April 1, 2014 -
Local contractors who do work for the City will join Utilities Kingston and City staff for FREE health and safety training during Safety Days, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 2 to 4 at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
"Safety Days are aimed at getting everyone ‘Home Safe Every Day' – that's our theme because that's our goal. This event offers excellent annual opportunity for businesses in Kingston to work together to create a safer city for our workers and residents," says Karen Santucci, Manager of Utilities Services & Gas Operations.
She notes this is the 10th year for Safety Days which has grown from 30 participants to 300, all focused on raising health and safety awareness and expectations.
The three-day event offers training sessions that look at analyzing hazards, understanding constructor obligations, incident investigation, occupational health and safety basics and policy and procedures, traffic control, and the utility work protection code.
The Ministry of Labour's Jean Justa and international safety expert Eldeen Pozniak will speak at the event intended to help participants identify hazards and further reduce health and safety risks at their work sites.
