Utilities Kingston expects unplanned power outage to be resolved by noon

January 11, 2018 -

Utilities Kingston estimates it will restore power to all of the north central area of Kingston by noon today, but some areas may see power sooner.  Crews are routing power from other areas as the utility company works to resolve the unplanned power outage. Crews have conducted a visual inspection of the substation where the outage originated and are working to find the exact cause.

The outage began at 4:10 a.m., impacting approximately 5,000 customers in the area of Division Street, Concession Street, Montreal Street and John Counter Boulevard, although that area has been reduced as crews reroute power from other sources.

Visit the Utilities Kingston website for an up-to-date outage map, as well as public power outage precautions. Residents should remember to turn off all appliances that will turn back on automatically when power is restored.
