Want To Own A Home? City's Home Ownership Program Offers Up To $13,000
Under the City's Home Ownership Program, you may be eligible for up to $13,000 toward a down payment. In 2013, the City is again committing funding to its Home Ownership Program to help Kingston residents buy a home. This year it is expected that 10 to 13 allocations will be provided to enable eligible households to purchase a home.
"Owning a home in Kingston can be less costly than renting on a regular monthly basis. The Home Ownership Program is one of the ways the City is seeking to make housing more affordable to Kingstonians and help them realize the dream of owning a home," says Lanie Hurdle, Commissioner of the Community Services.
Kingston renters, who have a household income of less than $74,900 and would like to purchase a home with a maximum price of $260,000 in the City of Kingston, may be eligible for down payment assistance equal to 5 per cent of the home purchase price.
Residents are encouraged to read the Home Ownership Program fact sheet for the complete list of rules and eligibility requirements as well as the application, which sets out the documentation required. Both are NOW available at CityofKingston.ca/housing or at 362 Montreal St., first floor reception. Or call 613-546-2695 ext. 4949 to request that the information be mailed to you.
