null Douglas R. Fluhrer Park concept to be presented
October 15, 2013 -
The public and stakeholders are invited to a second public meeting in the creation of a vision (concept) for Douglas R. Fluhrer Park.
A conceptual master plan will be presented at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 in Memorial Hall at City Hall, 216 Ontario St. The concept will be available for online input at www.CityofKingston.ca/city-hall/get-involved on Friday, Oct. 25.
"This is a key meeting for those who are interested in improvements to Douglas R. Fluhrer Park. The conceptual plan has taken into consideration many of the ideas and priorities noted from the initial public meeting. Input collected at this presentation will influence a refined plan," says Neal Unsworth, Manager of Parks Development.
The conceptual plan, designed by Thinc Design (Tocher Heyblom Design Inc), includes the following main elements:
- Grassed lawns and naturalized spaces
- Water access
- Hierarchy of pathways
- Central activity and gathering area
- Tree planting
- Reinstatement of shoreline buffer
- Recognition of historic interpretive elements
- Recognition of connecting linkages to the neighbourhoods
