Kingston Fire & Rescue invites you to a car wash in support of the United Way
October 19, 2018 -
Could your car use a cleaning? Show it a little TLC at the Kingston Fire & Rescue car wash in support of the United Way on Friday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Woodbine Firehall (Station #7).
"The United Way serving KFL&A supports thousands of people in our community, helping them when they need it most. Kingston Fire & Rescue is proud to do our small part for this great organization," says Tom Meers, platoon chief.
The United Way is the official charity supported by the City of Kingston, and City staff have set a goal to fundraise $85,000.
"Every little bit counts, and we hope lots of people show up to the car wash on Friday for some fun and to show their appreciation for the United Way," says Heather Roberts, co-chair of the United Way fundraising committee for the City.
As part of this community event, you can bring your vehicle to the firehall where it will be washed and rinsed by firefighters. "It's also a PA Day, so we're encouraging parents and guardians to bring little ones to meet firefighters, Sparky, enjoy a hotdog, see the trucks, and participate in an obstacle course," says Meers.
The event is free, but donations will be accepted for a car wash or a hot dog. "So hop in your car, bring your appetite and help us support the United Way," says Meers.
With support from donors, the United Way invests in more than 70 programs that support local residents, helping them when they need it the most. In 2017, United Way local agencies helped 58,558 members of our community through funded programs. Learn more about the United Way serving KFL&A.
