Level 3 EV fast charging stations improve Kingston's EV infrastructure
August 7, 2019 -
The City of Kingston's two Level 3 fast charging stations – among the first of their kind in Kingston – have been activated. Located in the Frontenac Municipal parking lot, the chargers bring the total number of chargers in the municipal network to 48.
Built by the Corporation of the City of Kingston and partially funded through Natural Resources Canada's Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative, the chargers provide a full charge to most EVs in less than one hour, and cost $17 per hour to use (plus additional parking fees).
"Canadians want to be part of the solution in the fight against climate change and one important way they are doing this is by making cleaner, more efficient choices when they travel. Projects, like these EV fast-charging stations in Kingston, will power our future, while lowering costs for families," says the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources.
Level 3 fast chargers Stations in the municipal network consist of Level 2 and level 3 chargers are owned by the City and operated by FLO, Canada's largest electric vehicle charging network. To view the full list of EV charging stations visit www.CityofKingston.ca/EV.
