null New Chief Of Fire And Rescue For The City Of Kingston

The City of Kingston is pleased to announce that Mr. Rhéaume Chaput will assume the role of Chief, Fire and Rescue Services, effective January 7, 2013.
Mr. Chaput replaces the retiring Chief, Mr. Harold Tulk. Mr. Chaput comes to Kingston with more than 25 years of experience in fire services as well as management of the full scope of fire operations including strategic plan development to address current and future needs, budget and business administration, emergency management and response, fire prevention and education and risk management. Mr. Chaput began his municipal career as a firefighter with the Town of Pembroke and progressed through to the role of Fire Chief in 2006. Mr. Chaput was hired into his current position, Director of Fire and Emergency Services and Fire Chief for the City of Belleville in 2008.
In his role as Fire Chief for Belleville, Mr. Chaput has developed a Master Fire Plan as well as restructured and reorganized fire service delivery. Mr. Chaput was awarded "Fire Chief of the Year" by the Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers Association in 2009 for significant contributions to fire prevention and public fire safety education.
In addition to Mr. Chaput's current role as Fire Chief for the City of Belleville, he also acts as the designated Community Emergency Management Coordinator. He is also the Fire Coordinator for the County of Hastings with direct incident response for major events involving multi-jurisdictional fire services.
Mr. Chaput is bilingual and has a Master of Arts in Disaster Emergency Management and a Bachelor of Applied Business, Emergency Services. He is a member of the Ontario Fire Marshall Public Safety Council. Mr. Chaput is looking forward to his new role in the City of Kingston and will be relocating to Kingston with his family.
