Kingston's property owners should now have their property tax bills. The deadline for payment is Friday, Feb. 28, whether or not you have received a tax bill. If you haven't received your bill, contact Customer Service at the City at 613-546-0000.
February 28, 2014 is also the last day eligible property owners can apply for the City's tax rebate programs for 2013. These include: the Registered Charity Property Rebate Program and the Rebate for Vacant Units in Commercial or Industrial Property.
More information on the rebate programs, including downloadable applications, can be found at www.cityofkingston.ca/taxrebates or by calling 613-546-0000. Applications for rebate programs are also available at City Hall, 216 Ontario St.
Owners with property assessed in both the capped (commercial, industrial and multi-residential) and uncapped (residential, farm and managed forest) property classes should receive two bills.
Bills paid after Feb. 28 will incur a penalty of 1.25 per on the first day of default and interest of 1.25 per cent is charged on the first day of each month thereafter. Penalty and interest charges cannot be waived.
