Name: Dalia Gesser

Dalia is an experienced theatre artist and educator. Dalia entertained audiences from 1980-2000 under the name of Compact Theatre with one-woman children's shows combining mime, mask, clown and circus skills. Until 1992 Dalia toured throughout Ontario, under the auspices of Prologue to the performing Arts, performing at various children's venues. Throughout that time she organized workshops and classes in the disciplines of creative drama, mime, mask, clown and circus skills. She has worked as a freelance arts educator in the Kingston Region since moving to this area in 1992, reaching many children and adults through theater arts workshops and classes.

Dalia Gesser facilitates theme-based programming in creative workshops in drama, mime, mask, circus, original use of props and skits. An eclectic selection of music is used to set certain moods as well as to enhance various exercises and skits. Any workshops and classes that are a minimum of four sessions usually culminate in an informal student performance. Dalia is interested in fostering students' imaginations, their interest in learning and their sense of play through various theatre games, improvisation, drama techniques and skit work. Learners have the opportunity to explore theatre arts, create their own works and feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment. The skills developed in these workshops are also useful in everyday life.
