Show us your Kingston is a photo competition seeking your diverse images of Kingston so they can be featured in City communications. Submit up to five original photos for a chance to win some great prizes.

This year's prizes include:

  • 1st place: Two tickets to go see Cirque du Soleil Crystal at the Leon's Centre
  • 2nd place: A $100 Netflix gift card
  • 3rd place: A $50 Camera Kingston gift card

Contest theme

The theme for this contest is "My Neighbourhood." Submit photos of the beautiful places and things in your neighbourhood along with a brief description of your photo, including what you like best about the neighbourhood where the photo was taken.

Consider this year's theme when selecting your submission and plan to leave a short description of the photo, including what you enjoy about the neighbourhood where the photo was taken. Submitted files should have a minimum resolution of 8 megapixels.

What size should my photo be?

Submitted files should be at least 8 megapixels in size. Many smartphone cameras will have an 8MP or higher resolution.

Can I use a printed photo?

No, only digital photos are eligible for the Show us your Kingston competition. However, you can scan a printed photo and submit it as a digital file. 

Can I submit an edited photo?

Yes, you can submit photos that have been processed and edited by camera applications, editing applications, or software. You may submit colour or black and white photos.

Do I have to be a Kingston resident to submit a photo?

No, you do not need to live in Kingston resident to enter. Anyone may submit a photo to Show us your Kingston. We encourage entrants to submit a photo that relates closely to the theme of "My neighbourhood."

When does the competition end?

The competition ends Feb. 11. Winners will be notified before Feb. 25.

How many photos can I submit?

You can submit up to five photos.

How are the winners selected?

Winners will be selected by City staff.

How will private information be handled after the competition is finished?

While we collect information as part of the MyCity portal registration process, it will only be used to inform entrants if they have won. All submitted information will be handled in accordance with MFIPPA legislation. Please contact us for if you have any additional questions.

How will my pictures be used?

Any photos submitted to the City may be used in future communications. This includes on the City's website, social media presence, or any corporate material produced and distributed in the future.
