Route Detours and Holiday Changes
Check this page regularly for news and service detours that may affect your commute.
Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Busses operate on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 runs on a weekday schedule on these days.

March 22 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard
Craftsman Boulevard will be closed between Festubert and the CFB Kingston Health Service Centre from start of service Thursday, March 22 until further notice as Department of National Defence crews repair a steam line running beneath the road. During this time, Route 12 buses will detour in both directions via Festubert, Somme, and the Health Service Centre parking lot. Stops at Craftsman and Lance will be out of service during this time.
January 10 - Stop out of service - Taylor-Kidd Boulevard at Milford
Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the St. Lawrence College-bound Route 6 stop on Taylor-Kidd Boulevard (south side) west of Milford will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons. Please board Route 6 buses on Progress, south of Taylor-Kidd (one block east and one-half block south).
January 10 - Stop out of service - John Counter Boulevard at VIA Rail
Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the INVISTA Centre-bound Route 7 stop on John Counter Boulevard (north side) outside the VIA Rail station will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons. Please board Route 7 buses at a temporary stop on John Counter (north side) at Old Mill (one block west) during this time.
January 8 - Princess Street Reconstruction
Starting Monday, January 8, and continuing until further notice, Princess Street will be closed between Barrie and Clergy for the next stage of the Princess Street Reconstruction project.
Express Route 501 and Downtown-bound Route 4 buses will detour via Division, Queen, and Bagot. Express Route 701, Kingston Centre-bound Route 2, and Route 18 Train Station Circuit buses will detour via Queen and Bagot. Stops on Princess at Barrie and at 270 Princess will be out of service during this time. All buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen east of Barrie; Routes 2, 4 and 18 will also service a temporary stop on Queen at Montreal (Express buses will not service this stop). Express Route 502, Express Route 702, Route 2 Division St., and Route 4 Cataraqui Centre buses are not affected.
November 20 - Stops entering service - Highway 15 at Rose Abbey/Waterside
Effective at start of service on Monday, November 20, Express Route 601/602 will begin servicing accessible stops on Highway 15 at Rose Abbey/Waterside, outside the new Riverview Shopping Centre.
November 19 - Change in departure time - 9:35 p.m. departure from Train Station
Effective Sunday, November 19, the 9:35 p.m. Route 18Q departure from the Train Station will be adjusted to depart at 9:55 p.m. in order to service riders arriving from VIA Rail Train 650. Route 18Q will wait up to 30 minutes further (to 10:25 p.m.) in the event Train 650 is delayed. Arrival time at other time points along the route will change depending on actual departure time from the Train Station.
September 25 - Change in departure time - 7:45 a.m. departure from Train Station
Effective Monday, September 25, the 7:45 a.m. Route 16 Bus Terminal trip from the Train Station will be shifted back by 5 minutes, and will depart at 7:40 a.m. instead.
September 18 - Stop out of service - Taylor-Kidd Boulevard at Bayridge
Effective at start of service on Monday, September 18, and continuing until further notice, the St. Lawrence College-bound Route 6 bus stop on Taylor-Kidd at Bayridge (south side) will be temporarily removed from service due to watermain construction. Please board Route 6 buses one block north (on the west side of Bayridge, just north of Taylor-Kidd).
September 5 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard
Starting Tuesday, September 5, and continuing until further notice, the gates to CFB Kingston on Craftsman Boulevard (at Highway 2 and at Highway 15) will close each night at 8 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning. Starting Tuesday, Route 12 buses will not service stops on Craftsman in either direction after 8 p.m.; buses will detour in both directions via Highways 2 and 15.
May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson
The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route. The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
