Celebrate the completion of renovations to Breakwater Park. Grand reopening festivities will include formal remarks by Mayor Bryan Paterson, MP Mark Gerretsen, Swim Drink Fish president Mark Mattson, dedication of the Gord Edgar Downie Pier and an afternoon of free, all-ages activities throughout the park. The first 500 people at the event will be treated to a free gelato and hot dog (following the opening ceremonies). Numerous community groups and local businesses will be onsite to offer fun, family friendly activities including kayaking, slacklines, stand-up paddle boarding, board and lawn games, personal fitness trainers to show you how to enjoy the waterfront park as an outdoor gym, as well as remote-control sailboats. There will also be a live DJ, a sand sculptor and the St. Lawrence II sail boat for all to admire. 

Shuttle and parking

Attendees are encouraged to plan their trip using Kingston Transit’s trip planner at www.KingstonTransit.ca/TripPlanner or to use the free 20-minute shuttle that will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with pick-up and drop-off at the Queen’s University Richardson Stadium parking lot. Drop-off at near Breakwater Park will take place at the bus stops located at King St. W and Beverly, King St. W and Albert Street and King St W and Lower University Ave.

Pedestrians and cyclists are to access the park at the new traffic signals installed on King Street at Lower University Avenue.
