Why do stories matter? Join us for a live community storytelling event. Hear from our storytellers and learn more about why stories are an important way to build our community history. The event will have ASL interpreters and separate programming is available for children. Cash Bar.

The event will feature community storytellers Paul Chaput, Rinad Elhaj, Selina Chiarelli, Alyssa Cooper and Cassel Miles. Storytelling will be followed with a Q&A talkback moderated by Guy Freedman and Melissa Hammell of First Peoples Group.

Launch event children’s programming: The Art of Storytelling

Let’s explore the creative process of visual storytelling through comics!  What’s in a story?  What stories would we like to share?  Children and youth will learn to craft their own comics to take home inspired by their experiences.  All art supplies will be provided.

To pre-register your child, send an email to education@cityofkingston.ca. Please include your full name, the name of your child, their age and your contact information. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment. Please include in your email any information or special needs requirements that can help us best accommodate programming for your child.

Kingston is a community that recognizes that people are its most valuable asset. We create opportunities for all people to enjoy our city and contribute as productive citizens. If you have accessibility concerns regarding our upcoming community workshops please let us know and we would be happy to help to plan for your participation.
