Holiday schedules

Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Buses operate on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 runs on a weekday schedule on these days.


Current Service Alerts

November 16 - Kingston Santa Claus Parade

Kingston Transit and Downtown Kingston! are pleased to offer free transit all day on Saturday, November 16!

Kingston's Santa Claus Parade will take place on Saturday, November 16 from approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will require a number of route changes during this time.  Please note that Express Routes 601/602, 701/702, and 801/802, as well as Routes 1, 2, 12 & 16 that normally travel north/south past Princess between Sir John A. Macdonald and Ontario will not do so during the Parade, and will be split into two sections at Princess.  If your trip on these routes requires travel past Princess, please consider taking a trip before or after the Parade times (approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.), if possible.

TIMING CHANGES

All Express routes will provide 15-minute service between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and frequent service will be available on Express routes after the parade.  Please note that Express Routes 601/602 and 801/802 will NOT service Brock/Barrie, University/Union, or Queen's/Kingston General Hospital while Princess is closed.  These routes will terminate at the Downtown Transfer Point, and riders wishing to continue their trip to Queen's/Kingston General Hospital must transfer Downtown.  Riders who normally board Express Routes 602 or 802 at Queen's/Kingston General Hospital must board Express Route 502, Route 1 Montreal St., or Route 2 Division St. buses, and transfer to Express Route 602 or 802 at the Downtown Transfer Point.  Regular routing will resume once Princess has reopened at Bagot.

ROUTE CHANGES

From approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.:

  • Route 1 will be separated into two sections:
    • The Montreal St. section will travel from Guthrie/Joyce to Downtown, looping back north via Bagot, Queen, Montreal, and North.  Route 1 Montreal St. buses will not service the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Bagot.
    • The Union St. section will travel from St. Lawrence College to the Downtown Transfer Point, looping back west via Clarence, Wellington, Brock and Bagot.  Riders travelling to/beyond downtown will be dropped off at an accessible temporary stop in front of the Hanson Memorial Parking Garage on Brock (between Bagot and Wellington).
  • Route 2 will be separated into two sections:
    • The Division St. section will travel from Guthrie/Joyce to Downtown, looping back north via Division, Queen, Wellington, Barrack, Bagot, and Queen.  Route 2 Division Street buses will not service the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Bagot; an additional accessible temporary stop will be available at Queen (north side), west of Barrie.
    • The Union St./Calvin Park section will travel from the Kingston Centre to the Downtown Transfer Point, looping back west via Clarence, Wellington, Brock and Bagot.  Riders travelling to/beyond downtown will be dropped off at the accessible temporary stop in front of the Hanson Memorial Parking Garage on Brock (between Bagot and Wellington).
  • Route 4 Downtown will detour from the intersection of Princess and Sir John A. Macdonald via Sir John A. Macdonald and Bath, stopping at the Kingston Centre Transfer Point.  From here, buses will travel downtown via Bath, Palace, and Johnson, turning back west via Bagot and Brock and stopping at the Downtown Transfer Point on Brock.
  • Route 4 Cataraqui Centre will detour from the intersection of Brock and Division via Brock, Palace, and Bath, returning to regular routing at Bath and Palace.
  • Route 12 will be separated into two sections:
    • The Regent/Brock/Johnson section will travel on its regular route in both directions between Kingston Centre and Downtown.  Route 12 buses will not service Platform 6 (Bagot east side), but will service Platform 1 (Brock at Montreal) instead.  After serving the Downtown Transfer Point, Route 12 buses will continue west on Brock towards the Kingston Centre.
    • The CFB Kingston section will travel from CFB Kingston to Downtown, looping back north via Place D'Armes, Wellington, Ordnance, Bagot, and Queen.  Route 12 CFB Kingston buses will not service the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (south side), east of Bagot.
  • Route 16 will be separated into two sections:
    • The Portsmouth/Strathcona section will travel from the VIA Rail station to the Kingston Centre Transfer Point, turning back westbound at the Kingston Centre.
    • The Division/Dalton section will travel from Clyde Industrial Park to the intersection of Concession and Princess, turning back eastbound at the Concession/Princess turnaround.  Riders travelling to/beyond this area will be dropped off at the accessible stop on Concession at Leroy Grant.  Route 16 Division/Dalton buses will not service the Kingston Centre Transfer Point.
  • Route 18 will detour between the Coach Canada station and the Downtown Transfer Point on Brock via John Counter, Sir John A. Macdonald, Johnson, Bagot, Clarence, Wellington, Brock, and Bagot, resuming regular routing at Brock and Bagot.  Riders travelling to/beyond downtown will be dropped off at the accessible temporary stop in front of the Hanson Memorial Parking Garage on Brock (between Bagot and Wellington).
  • Express Route 501 will detour outside the Kingston Centre via Sir John A. Macdonald, Bath, Palace, Johnson, Bagot, Clarence, Wellington, and Brock, resuming regular routing at Brock and Bagot.
    • Express Route 501 will not stop at the Kingston Centre stop on Princess; instead, buses will stop at the Route 702 stop on Bath (south side), outside the Kingston Centre.
    • Express Route 501 will not stop at the Downtown Transfer Point on Bagot; an accessible temporary stop will be available in front of the Hanson Memorial Parking Garage (Brock between Bagot and Wellington).
  • Express Route 502 will detour at the intersection of Brock and Division via Brock, Palace, Bath, and the Kingston Centre roadway.
  • Express Routes 601/602 will travel from the Innovation Drive Park & Ride to Downtown, looping back north via Place D'Armes, Wellington, Ordnance, Bagot, and Queen.  Express Routes 601/602 will not operate to the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (south side), east of Bagot.
  • Express Routes 701/702 will be separated into two sections:
    • The Division St. section will travel from King's Crossing to Downtown, looping back north via Division, Queen, Wellington, Barrack, Bagot, and Queen.  Express Route 701 buses travelling on Division will not service the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Bagot; an additional accessible temporary stop will be available at Queen (north side), west of Barrie.
    • The Brock/Johnson/Bath/Gardiners section will travel from the Cataraqui Centre to the Downtown Transfer Point on its regular route, turning back west as Express Route 701 at the Downtown Transfer Point.  Express Route 702 buses travelling from the Cataraqui Centre will not service Division St.
  • Express Routes 801/802 will travel from the Montreal Street Park & Ride to Downtown, looping back north via Raglan, Bagot, Queen, and Montreal.  Express Routes 801/802 will not operate to the Downtown Transfer Point, but will instead service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Bagot.

STOP CHANGES

From approximately 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.:

  • All stops on Princess between Mooallim (Kingston Centre) and Ontario (including all Express Route 501/502 stops) will be out of service.
    • The Express Route 502 stop at 1055 Princess/Kingston Centre remains in service.
  • Express Route 802, Route 1 Montreal St., and Route 2 Division St. will not serve the Downtown Transfer Point.  These routes will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Bagot.
  • Route 1 Montreal St. buses will not service the stop on Bagot (east side) at Ordnance, but will service the Express Route 802 shelter on Montreal (east side) at Ordnance instead (one block west).
  • Route 2 Division St. and Express Route 702 will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Barrie.
  • Routes 2 and 4 will not serve the stop at Division and Princess.
  • Express Route 501 will not serve its regular stop on Princess outside the Kingston Centre, but will service the Express Route 702 stop on Bath (south side) outside the Kingston Centre.
  • Routes 4 and 16 will not serve the stops on Bath at Westdale in either direction.
  • The Downtown Transfer Point stops on Bagot (Platforms 4, 5, and 6) will be out of service.  Riders wishing to access Express Route 501 or Routes 1, 2 or 18 towards St. Lawrence College may do so at the accessible temporary stop in front of the Hanson Memorial Parking Garage (Brock between Bagot and Wellington).  Riders wishing to access Express Route 602 or Route 12 CFB Kingston buses may do so at the accessible temporary stop on Queen (south side), east of Bagot.
  • Express Route 601 and Route 12 Kingston Centre buses will not service the Express stop at the Leon's Centre (west side).
  • Route 12 Highway 15 will not service the Downtown Transfer Point.
  • Route 16 Bus Terminal will not service the Kingston Centre Transfer Point.
  • Route 18 will not service stops on Leroy Grant, Elliott, or Division.

September 26 - Temporary shelter removal - Weller Avenue at Worthington Park

The bus stop on Weller Avenue (south side) at Worthington Park has been upgraded in the coming weeks to meet accessibility standards.  To support this work, the existing inaccessible shelter was removed on Thursday, September 26.  A new, accessible shelter will be installed in this location by the end of 2019.  The bus stop remains in service.

November 6 - UPDATE - Road closure - Kingscourt Avenue at First

UPDATED 2:50 P.M. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5

Starting Monday, November 4, and continuing until further notice, Kingscourt Avenue will be closed between First and Third while crews install a new water main and sanitary sewers.  During this time, Route 16 buses will detour in both directions via Third and Fergus.  Stops in both directions on Kingscourt at Concession will be out of service; Train Station-bound buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Concession at Kingscourt, while Division/Dalton-bound buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Fergus (east side) at Concession (PLEASE NOTE REVISED LOCATION). The Division/Dalton-bound stop on Kingscourt at Third will also be out of service; an accessible temporary stop will be available on Third at Kingscourt (north side).

October 22 - Temporary stop relocation - Drennan Street at Wilson (south side)

Effective at start of service Tuesday, October 22, and continuing until further notice, the bus stop on Drennan Street at Wilson (south side) will be temporarily shifted to the west side of the intersection while crews construct an accessible bus pad.

October 21 - Stops out of service - RioCan Centre

Rockwell Avenue (behind PetSmart and Dollarama at the RioCan Centre) will be closed for construction at the intersection with Entell (behind Winners/Homesense) starting Monday, October 21.  As of that date, until further notice Route 11 buses will detour in both directions via Gardiners Road, servicing the Express stops on Gardiners at Arlington Park.  Route 11 will not service stops inside the RioCan Centre (at Michaels/Winners and at PetSmart/Best Buy); these stops will be out of service during this time.

October 18 - Temporary stop relocation - King Street at Maitland

The Route 3 Downtown stop on King Street at Maitland (south side) will be temporarily relocated starting Friday, October 18 while crews construct a new accessible bus pad.  Until further notice, as of Friday, October 18 Downtown-bound buses may be boarded at a non-accessible temporary stop one block east (on King at Simcoe).

September 9 - Stop relocation - Johnson Street at Sydenham

Starting Monday, September 9, and continuing until further notice, the Route 12 CFB Kingston stop on Johnson Street at Sydenham will be relocated approximately 15 meters west to accommodate a lane reduction.

September 3 - Platform change - Kingston Centre Transfer Point

Effective at start of service Tuesday, September 3, the platform assignment at Kingston Centre Transfer Point for Route 16 Division/Dalton buses will change to improve route reliability.  As of September 3, Route 16 Division/Dalton buses will service Platform 6 (southeast platform); this platform will continue to be serviced by Route 3 buses.

August 29 - Stop out of service - Johnson Street at Macdonnell

As of start of service Thursday, August 29, the Route 12 CFB Kingston/Route 17W West Campus stop on Johnson Street at Macdonnell will be permanently removed from service for safety reasons.  Please board buses at the accessible stop on Johnson at Willingdon (two blocks west).

August 21 - Stop move - John Counter Boulevard at Princess

Effective Wednesday, August 21, and continuing until further notice, the Route 7 Rideau Heights/Route 16 Train Station/Route 18 Train Station bus stop on John Counter Boulevard at Princess (south side) will be temporarily shifted one-half block east (to James Reid Furniture) while crews continue work on the John Counter Boulevard Overpass project.

January 10 - Stop out of service - John Counter Boulevard at VIA Rail

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the INVISTA Centre-bound Route 7 stop on John Counter Boulevard (north side) outside the VIA Rail station will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons.  Please board Route 7 buses at a temporary stop on John Counter (north side) at Old Mill (one block west) during this time.

September 5 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard

Starting Tuesday, September 5, and continuing until further notice, the gates to CFB Kingston on Craftsman Boulevard (at Highway 2 and at Highway 15) will close each night at 8 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning.  Starting Tuesday, Route 12 buses will not service stops on Craftsman in either direction after 8 p.m.; buses will detour in both directions via Highways 2 and 15.

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
