Route Detours and Holiday Changes

Holiday schedules

Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Buses operate on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 runs on a weekday schedule on these days.

Current Service Alerts

July 21 - Road closure - Ontario Street at City Hall

Ontario Street will be closed at City Hall for the 7th annual Fire Truck Pull Event hosted by Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.  During this closure, from the intersection of Ontario and Earl, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via Earl, King, and Brock, returning to regular route at King/Brock.  Kingston Centre-bound Route 3 buses are not affected.  Route 3 will not service the stop at Ontario/Johnson during this time, but will service the Route 12 stop on King at Market.

July 20 - Road closure - Princess Street at Division

Princess Street will be closed between Division and Barrie for the annual Taylor Hall Ball Hockey Tournament on Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Express Route 501 and Downtown-bound Route 4 buses will detour via Division, Queen, and Bagot.  Express Route 701, Kingston Centre-bound Route 2, and Train Station-bound Route 18 buses will detour via Queen and Bagot.  Stops at Princess/Barrie and at 270 Princess will be out of service during this time; all buses will service a temporary stop on Queen, east of Barrie, while Routes 2, 4, and 18 will service a temporary stop on Queen at Montreal.

July 15-19 - Road closure - Innovation Drive

Innovation Drive will be closed for construction just east of Highway 15 from start of service Monday, July 15 until end of day Friday, July 19.  During this closure, from the intersection of Highway 15 and Innovation, buses will detour north on Highway 15, right on John Marks, and right on Discovery to service a non-accessible temporary stop on Discovery at Innovation (outside StarTek).  From here, buses will detour left to Innovation (to service the 695 Innovation stop), left to John Marks (to service stops at 933 John Marks and at John Marks/Discovery), and left on Highway 15 to resume regular route.  Stops on Innovation at StarTek in both directions will be out of service during this time.

July 2 - Stop move - Pratt Drive at Kildare (west side)

Effective Tuesday, July 2, the Route 10 stop on Pratt Drive at Kildare (west side) will be relocated to the intersection of Kildare and McDonough (one-half block south and one block east).  The stop on Pratt at Kildare (east side) remains in service.

July 2 - Stop entering service - 933 John Marks Avenue at Innovation

Effective at start of service Tuesday, July 2, Express Route 602 buses will begin servicing an accessible bus stop outside 933 John Marks Avenue (north side at Innovation).

January 10 - Stop out of service - John Counter Boulevard at VIA Rail

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the INVISTA Centre-bound Route 7 stop on John Counter Boulevard (north side) outside the VIA Rail station will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons.  Please board Route 7 buses at a temporary stop on John Counter (north side) at Old Mill (one block west) during this time.

September 5 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard

Starting Tuesday, September 5, and continuing until further notice, the gates to CFB Kingston on Craftsman Boulevard (at Highway 2 and at Highway 15) will close each night at 8 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning.  Starting Tuesday, Route 12 buses will not service stops on Craftsman in either direction after 8 p.m.; buses will detour in both directions via Highways 2 and 15.

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
