Holiday schedules

Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Busses operate on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 runs on a weekday schedule on these days.


Current Service Alerts

July 2 - Stop out of service - Bath Road at McEwen

The Route 15 Cataraqui Centre/Cataraqui Woods stop on Bath Road west of McEwen (south side) will be permanently removed from service at end of day Sunday, July 1.  As of Monday, July 2, please board Route 15 buses at a new accessible stop one block east (on the south side of Bath, east of McEwen).

July 2 - Stop out of service - McEwen Drive at Bath

The Route 6 Cataraqui Centre stop on McEwen Drive at Bath (east side) will be permanently removed from service at end of day Sunday, July 1.  As of Monday, July 2, please board Route 6 buses at a new accessible stop one block east (on the south side of Bath, east of McEwen).

July 2 - Stops out of service - Acadia Drive at Barnsley

The bus stops in both directions on Acadia Drive at Barnsley will be permanently removed from service at end of day Sunday, July 1.  As of Monday, July 2, please board Route 15 buses one block east (at Evangeline), or one block west (at Citation/Sackville).

June 23 - Road closure - Concession Street

Due to a road closure for the K-Town Kids Triathlon on Saturday, June 23, Route 16 buses will detour away from Concession (between Nelson and Kingscourt) from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m..  Buses will detour in both directions via Nelson and First.  Stops at Kingscourt and Concession will be out of service in both directions during this time.  Buses can be boarded at the accessible stops on Kingscourt at Third.

June 22 - Road closure - Ontario Street at City Hall

Ontario Street will be closed between Brock and Clarence for the Corvette Meet and Greet on Friday, June 22 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.  During this time, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via Earl, King, and Brock to access the Downtown Transfer Point. Kingston Centre-bound buses will not be affected. Stops on Ontario at Johnson and at City Hall will be out of service during this time. Route 3 buses will not serve the stop on Brock at City Hall, however Route 12 continues to serve this stop.  Route 3 buses will serve the accessible Route 12 stop on King at Market during this closure.

June 21 - Road closure - Ontario Street at City Hall

Ontario Street will be closed between Brock and Market for the annual National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations on Thursday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  During this time, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via Earl, King, and Brock to access the Downtown Transfer Point. Kingston Centre-bound buses will not be affected. Stops on Ontario at Johnson and at City Hall will be out of service during this time. Route 3 buses will not serve the stop on Brock at City Hall, however Route 12 continues to serve this stop.  Route 3 buses will serve the accessible Route 12 stop on King at Market during this closure.

June 20 - All clear - Taylor-Kidd Boulevard at Milford

Construction on Taylor-Kidd at Milford has progressed beyond the intersection. The former Route 6 St. Lawrence College bus stop on Taylor-Kidd Boulevard west of Milford has been relocated to a new accessible stop just east of the intersection as of Wednesday, June 20.

May 28 - Stop out of service - St. Lawrence College Transfer Point

Starting Monday, May 28, and continuing until further notice, the bus loop at the St. Lawrence College Transfer Point will be out of service as crews construct a concrete bus pad and repave the access roadway.  Buses will not stop at the entrance to St. Lawrence College.  During this time, buses will service a temporary transfer point on Portsmouth Avenue at Baiden (two blocks south of the College entrance).

  • Route 1 (both directions): From the intersection of Portsmouth and Baiden, Route 1 buses will detour right to Baiden, left to Cartwright, left to Churchill, and left to Portsmouth to service the temporary transfer point on Portsmouth at Baiden (west side).  Route 1 buses will not service stops at Portsmouth/Baiden (east side) or Portsmouth/Calderwood (east side).
  • Route 2 Division: From the intersection of Churchill and Portsmouth, Division St.-bound Route 2 buses will detour left on Portsmouth to service the temporary transfer point on Portsmouth at Baiden (west side).  Route 2 buses will not service the stop at Portsmouth/Calderwood (east side).
  • Route 2 Kingston Centre: Kingston Centre-bound Route 2 buses will service a temporary transfer point on Portsmouth at Churchill (east side) during this time.  From here, buses will detour straight on Portsmouth, right on Mary, right on Cartwright, and left on Churchill to resume regular route.  Route 2 buses will not service stops at Portsmouth/Baiden (east side) or Portsmouth/Calderwood (east side).
  • Route 3 Downtown: Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will continue straight on Portsmouth past the SLC entrance (servicing a non-accessible temporary stop at the southern SLC driveway opposite Mary), and will hold at the temporary transfer point on Portsmouth at Baiden (west side) until the scheduled departure time from SLC.
  • Route 3 Kingston Centre: Kingston Centre-bound Route 3 buses will continue straight on Portsmouth past the SLC entrance.  The Portsmouth/Baiden (east side) stop will be out of service; a temporary stop will be placed one block north at Portsmouth/Churchill (east side).
  • Route 6 (both directions): From the intersection of Portsmouth and Baiden, Route 6 buses will detour right to Baiden, left to Cartwright, left to Churchill, and left to Portsmouth to service the temporary transfer point on Portsmouth at Baiden (west side).  Route 6 buses will not service stops at Portsmouth/Baiden (east side) or Portsmouth/Calderwood (east side).
  • Route 18: Route 18 buses will continue straight on Portsmouth past the SLC entrance.  The Portsmouth/Baiden (east side) stop will be out of service; a temporary stop will be placed one block north at Portsmouth/Churchill (east side).

May 28 - UPDATE - Princess Street Reconstruction

Starting Monday, May 28, and continuing until further notice, Princess Street will be closed at the intersection of Division for the next stage of the Princess Street Reconstruction project.  Division will also close between Brock and Queen; the stop on Division at Princess will be out of service during this time.

  • Express Route 502: From the intersection of Brock and Division, Express Route 502 buses will detour straight on Brock, right to Alfred, and left to Princess to resume regular route.  No Express Route 502 stops are missed on this detour.
  • Express Route 702: From the Downtown Transfer Point, Express Route 702 buses will detour right to Montreal, left to Queen, and right to Division to resume regular route.  Express Route 702 will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen, west of Barrie, but will not service the bus stop on Brock at Barrie (Express Routes 502, 701, and 801, as well as Routes 4 and 12, continue to service this bus stop).
  • Route 2 Division St.: From the Downtown Transfer Point, Route 2 Division St. buses will detour right to Montreal, left to Queen, and right to Division to resume regular route.  Route 2 buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen, west of Barrie, but will not service stops at Brock/Clergy and Brock/Barrie.
  • Route 4 Downtown: From the intersection of Princess and Alfred, Route 4 Downtown buses will detour right to Alfred, left to Johnson, left to Clergy, and right to Princess to resume regular route.  Route 4 buses will no longer stop at the temporary stops on Queen, and the stop on Princess at University will be out of service.  Route 4 buses will stop at Johnson/University, Johnson/Division, and Johnson/Barrie; the stop at 270 Princess will re-enter service for Route 4 buses only.  Buses will remain on the current detour (via Queen) until end of day Sunday, May 27.
  • Route 4 Cataraqui Centre: From the intersection of Brock and Division, Route 4 Cataraqui Centre buses will detour straight on Brock, right to Alfred, and left to Princess to resume regular route.  Route 4 stops at Division/Princess and at Princess/University will be out of service; buses will service the Route 12 stop on Brock at University.

May 1 - UPDATE - Princess Street Reconstruction

Starting Tuesday, May 1, the Express Route 501 detour has changed, and will no longer service Queen (all other routes continue to use Queen).  From the intersection of Princess and Alfred, buses will detour right to Alfred, left to Johnson, left to Clergy, and right to Princess to resume regular route.  Express Route 501 buses will stop at the Express Route 702 stop on Johnson at Barrie.

April 22/23 - Route out of service

The Route 18Q Queen's late night train station bus will not operate after the end of Queen's University's Winter term.  Regular service on Route 18Q has been suspended, and will resume in September.  A Route 18 trip will depart VIA Rail at 9:25 p.m. on Sundays until September.

April 26 - Route out of service

The Route 20 Queen's Main/West Campus Shuttle will not operate after the end of Queen's University's Winter term.  Regular service on Route 20 will conclude at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, and will resume in September.

April 26/27 - Route out of service

The Route 17 late night Queen's Shuttle will not operate after the end of Queen's University's Winter term.  Regular service on Route 17 will conclude at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, April 27, and will resume in September.

March 22 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard

Craftsman Boulevard will be closed between Festubert and the CFB Kingston Health Service Centre from start of service Thursday, March 22 until further notice as Department of National Defence crews repair a steam line running beneath the road.  From the intersection of Craftsman and Festubert, buses will detour right to Festubert, left to Somme, left to Fifth, and right to Craftsman to resume regular route.  Stops at Craftsman and Lance will be out of service during this time.

January 10 - Stop out of service - John Counter Boulevard at VIA Rail

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the INVISTA Centre-bound Route 7 stop on John Counter Boulevard (north side) outside the VIA Rail station will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons.  Please board Route 7 buses at a temporary stop on John Counter (north side) at Old Mill (one block west) during this time.

January 8 - Princess Street Reconstruction

Starting Monday, January 8, and continuing until further notice, Princess Street will be closed between Barrie and Clergy for the next stage of the Princess Street Reconstruction project. 

Express Route 701, Kingston Centre-bound Route 2, and Route 18 Train Station Circuit buses will detour via Queen and Bagot.  Stops on Princess at Barrie and at 270 Princess will be out of service during this time.  All buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen east of Barrie; Routes 2, 4 and 18 will also service a temporary stop on Queen at Montreal (Express buses will not service this stop). Express Route 502, Express Route 702, Route 2 Division St., and Route 4 Cataraqui Centre buses are not affected.

Until end of day Sunday, May 27, Downtown-bound Route 4 buses will detour via Division, Queen, and Bagot, stopping at Queen/Barrie and Queen/Montreal.  Starting Monday, May 28, the Route 4  detour will change to use Alfred, Johnson, Clergy and Princess instead (making stops along Johnson).

September 5 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard

Starting Tuesday, September 5, and continuing until further notice, the gates to CFB Kingston on Craftsman Boulevard (at Highway 2 and at Highway 15) will close each night at 8 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning.  Starting Tuesday, Route 12 buses will not service stops on Craftsman in either direction after 8 p.m.; buses will detour in both directions via Highways 2 and 15.

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
