Holiday schedules

Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Buses operate on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 runs on a weekday schedule on these days.


Current Service Alerts

July 2 - Stop entering service - 933 John Marks Avenue at Innovation

Effective at start of service Tuesday, July 2, Express Route 602 buses will begin servicing an accessible bus stop outside 933 John Marks Avenue (north side at Innovation).

July 2 - Stop move - 242 Guthrie Drive

Effective Tuesday, July 2, the shelter outside 242 Guthrie Drive will be relocated approximately 45 metres further north (toward 266 Guthrie) to a new, fully-accessible pad.

July 2 - Stop out of service - Bath Road at Portsmouth (north side)

Effective at start of service Tuesday, July 2, the bus stop on Bath Road (north side) west of Portsmouth will be permanently removed from service for safety and accessibility reasons.  Please board Route 3 Downtown and Route 11 Cataraqui Centre buses at the Express shelter on Bath, east of Portsmouth (one block east).

July 1 - Road closure - Princess Street - Canada Day Parade

Princess Street will be unavailable to buses during the Canada Day Parade on Canada Day, Monday, July 1. 

Between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., Express Route 501, Express Route 701, Kingston Centre-bound Route 2, Downtown-bound Route 4, and Train Station-bound Route 18 buses will detour via Division, Queen, and Bagot, returning to regular route at Princess and Bagot.  Stops at Princess/Barrie and at 270 Princess will be out of service during this time.  All buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen at Barrie.

July 1 - Road closure - King and Johnson Streets

During the Limestone Mile race from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, a number of downtown streets will be unavailable to buses.  During this time, the following detours will be in place:

Downtown-bound Route 3 buses: from the intersection of King and West, buses will detour left to West, right to Bagot, and left to Brock.  Buses will not service stops on West or on Ontario during this time; buses will service stops at West/Bagot and at Bagot/Earl.

Kingston Centre-bound Route 3 buses: from the Downtown Transfer Point, buses will proceed straight on Brock, left to Sydenham, left to William, right to Bagot, left to West, and right to King.  Buses will not service stops on Johnson, West, or Ontario during this time; buses will service stops at Bagot/Earl and at Bagot/West.

CFB Kingston-bound Route 12 buses: from the intersection of Johnson and Bagot, buses will detour left to Bagot to access the Downtown Transfer Point.  Buses will not service stops on Johnson at Wellington, or on King at Market.

July 1 - Road closure - Ontario Street at City Hall

Ontario Street will be closed at City Hall for Canada Day celebrations from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Monday, July 1.  During this closure, from the intersection of Ontario and Earl, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via Earl, King, and Brock, returning to regular route at King/Brock.  Kingston Centre-bound Route 3 buses are not affected.  Route 3 will not service the stop at Ontario/Johnson during this time, but will service the Route 12 stop on King at Market.

Please note that the King/Market stop will be out of service from 9-11 a.m.; during this time, please board Route 12 buses on Brock at City Hall, and transfer at the Downtown Transfer Point.

June 24-27 - Stops out of service - Kingscourt Avenue at Seventh

The Route 16 stops in both directions on Kingscourt Avenue at Seventh will be out of service from Monday, June 24 to Thursday, June 27 while Public Works crews repair the curbs at the stops.  Please board Route 16 buses at the accessible stops one block south (on Kingscourt at Fifth).

January 10 - Stop out of service - John Counter Boulevard at VIA Rail

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, January 10, the INVISTA Centre-bound Route 7 stop on John Counter Boulevard (north side) outside the VIA Rail station will be temporarily removed from service until further notice for safety and accessibility reasons.  Please board Route 7 buses at a temporary stop on John Counter (north side) at Old Mill (one block west) during this time.

September 5 - Road closure - Craftsman Boulevard

Starting Tuesday, September 5, and continuing until further notice, the gates to CFB Kingston on Craftsman Boulevard (at Highway 2 and at Highway 15) will close each night at 8 p.m., and will reopen at 5 a.m. the following morning.  Starting Tuesday, Route 12 buses will not service stops on Craftsman in either direction after 8 p.m.; buses will detour in both directions via Highways 2 and 15.

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.
