Route Detours and Holiday Changes

Holiday schedules
Bus service operates on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 will run on a weekday schedule on these days. Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.

June 28 - All clear - Downtown Transfer Point

Construction will be completed at the Downtown Transfer Point on Tuesday, June 27.  Effective at start of service on Wednesday, June 28, all routes will service their permanent stop locations:

Brock east of Montreal, outside Cambodiana

  • Kingston Centre-bound Route 3
  • Kingston Centre-bound Route 12

Brock between Cambodiana and CIBC Driveways

  • King's Crossing-bound Express Route 702
  • Division St.-bound Route 2

Brock west of Bagot, outside CIBC

  • Cataraqui Centre-bound Express Route 502 (via Princess)
  • Cataraqui Centre-bound Express Route 701 (via Bath)
  • Cataraqui Centre-bound Route 4

Bagot west side, outside Lower Robert Bruce Parking Garage

Accessible shelters will be installed on Brock (between Montreal and Bagot) the week of July 24.  Kingston Transit appreciates your understanding as we work to improve our service.

July 3 - Stops out of service - Old Colony at Nottinghill

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stops on Old Colony Road (both sides) at Nottinghill will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 15 buses one block east (at Ridley) or one block west (at Purcell).

July 3 - Stops out of service - Mona Drive at Rockwood

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stops on Mona Drive (both sides) at Rockwood will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 15 buses one block north (at Humberside) or one block south (at Lynwood/Dunham).

July 3 - Stop out of service - Bagot Street at Barrie

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stop on Bagot Street (north side) at Barrie will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 1, 2, and 18 buses at the accessible stop on Bagot at West (one block east).

July 1 - Detour - Canada Day People Parade

Princess Street will be unavailable to buses during the Canada Day People Parade on Canada Day, Saturday, July 1. 

Between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., Express Route 501, Kingston Centre-bound Route 2, Downtown-bound Route 4, and Train Station-bound Route 18 buses will detour via Division, Queen, and Bagot, returning to regular route at Princess and Bagot.  Stops at Princess/Barrie and at 270 Princess will be out of service during this time.  All buses will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen at Barrie.

On the 12:05 p.m. trip from the Downtown Transfer Point, Route 12 Highway 15 will detour via Bagot and Queen, and will not service the stop on Princess at King. 

July 1 - Canada Day - Extended Holiday Service

Extended bus service will be offered to riders on Saturday, July 1.  All Express Routes (501/502, 601/602, and 701/702) and Routes 1, 7, and 15 will offer expanded service schedules to get you to and from the festivities at Confederation Basin:

  • All Express Routes, Route 7, and Route 18 will operate on a Saturday schedule.
  • Routes 1 and 15 will operate every 60 minutes from 6 a.m. until midnight.
  • All other routes will operate on a Sunday schedule.

July 1 - Road closure - Brock Street at City Hall

Brock Street will be closed at City Hall for Canada 150 celebrations on Saturday, July 1.  Between start of service and end of service on Saturday, Express Route 601 and Kingston Centre-bound Route 12 buses will be unable to use Brock at City Hall.  From the intersection of Ontario and Queen, Express Route 601 buses will detour via Queen, Wellington, and Brock, returning to regular route at Wellington and Brock. Kingston Centre-bound Route 12 buses will detour via Queen, Bagot, and Brock, returning to regular route at the Downtown Transfer Point.  Route 12 buses will not service the shelter on Brock at City Hall on Saturday, July 1.

June 30 - Stop out of service - Ontario Street at City Hall

Effective at start of service on Friday, June 30, the bus stop on Ontario Street (east side) at City Hall will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 3 buses at the accessible stop/shelter on Brock (north side) at City Hall, one-half block north and one-half block west.

June 29 - July 3 - Road closure - Ontario Street at City Hall

Ontario Street will be closed at City Hall for Canada 150 celebrations from start of service on Friday, June 30 until 12 p.m. on Monday, July 3.  During this closure, from the intersection of Ontario and William, Downtown-bound Route 3 buses will detour via William, King, and Brock, returning to regular route at King/Brock.  Kingston Centre-bound Route 3 buses are not affected.  Route 3 will not service stops at Ontario/Johnson and Brock/City Hall during this time, but will service the Route 12 stop on King at Market.

June 7 - Stop out of service - Bagot at Johnson (east side)

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, June 7, the bus stop on Bagot (east side) at Johnson will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 1 and 2 buses at the Downtown Transfer Point on Bagot (east side), north of Brock (one block north).

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.

April 10 – Schedule change – 11:11 p.m. trip from Downtown Transfer Point

Effective Monday, April 10, the 11:11 p.m. Express Route 701 departure from Downtown Transfer Point will wait until 11:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday in order to allow transfers from Routes 1 and 4.
