Route Detours and Holiday Changes

The Transit Trip Planner does not reflect unanticipated temporary transit changes or detour information.

Holiday schedules
Bus service operates on a Sunday schedule on Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday and Boxing Day. Route 18 will run on a weekday schedule on these days. Kingston Transit does not operate on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday.

August 8 - Stop relocation - Hudson Drive at Laidlaw

Effective at start of service on Tuesday, August 8, the Route 15 Reddendale stop on Hudson at Laidlaw (south side) will be relocated one block west to the newly-built accessible stop pad on Hudson (south side) at Bayridge.

August 8 - Stop relocation - 988 Hudson Drive

Effective at start of service on Tuesday, August 8, the Route 15 Cataraqui Centre/Cataraqui Woods stop at 988 Hudson Drive (north side) will be relocated one block west to the newly-built accessible stop pad on Hudson (north side) at Bayridge.

August 8 - Stop relocation - 670 Development Drive

Effective at start of service on Tuesday, August 8, the Route 15 Cataraqui Centre/Cataraqui Woods stop at 670 Development Drive (north side) will be relocated one-half block east to the newly-built accessible stop pad on Development (north side), just west of Gardiners.

August 8 - Route change - St. Lawrence Business Park

Due to rider requests, effective at start of service on Tuesday, August 8, Kingston Transit will make changes to how Express Route 602 services St. Lawrence Business Park.  From the intersection of Highway 15 and Innovation, Express Route 602 will turn right to Innovation, left to John Marks, left to Discovery, and right to Innovation to service the Innovation Dr. Park & Ride.  As a result of this route change, the following stop changes will be made:

  • A new accessible stop will enter service on Innovation (south side), just east of Highway 15
  • The 695 Innovation stop will be relocated from the west side to the south side of Innovation (immediately outside 695 Innovation)
  • The John Marks/Discovery stop will be relocated from the south side of John Marks to the north side of John Marks, just east of Discovery.

August 2 - Temporary shelter removals - Bath Road west of Sir John A. Macdonald

The shelters on Bath Road just west of Sir John A. Macdonald (beside Lafleur Park) in both directions will be temporarily removed by end of day Wednesday, August 2, to allow crews to improve accessibility by enlarging the shelter pads and adding a concrete surface between the sidewalk and curb.  Shelters will be returned to these locations shortly after the work is complete.  While the shelters have been removed, these stops will remain in service.  Please note that during construction, stop locations may shift slightly to accommodate excavation and pouring of concrete.

July 12 - Downtown Transfer Point - All clear - After 12:30 p.m.

All work at the Downtown Transfer Point has been completed, and all routes will resume servicing their regular stop locations after 12:30 p.m. today.  Note that Route 2 Division, Route 12 Kingston Centre, and Express Route 601 buses scheduled to arrive at 12:30 p.m. will continue to service the detour stops, however all later buses on all routes will stop at their regular locations.

Due to a supplier error, the side glass panels for each shelter have not been installed.  These will be installed in the next 2-6 weeks.

July 10 - Stop out of service - Cataraqui Woods Drive at Midland

Effective Monday, July 10, the bus stop on Cataraqui Woods Drive (south side) east of Midland will be out of service until further notice due to utilities reconstruction.  Please board Route 7 buses at an accessible temporary stop on Midland (east side), just south of Cataraqui Woods.

July 3 - Stops out of service - Old Colony at Nottinghill

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stops on Old Colony Road (both sides) at Nottinghill will be permanently removed from service. Please board Route 15 buses one block east (at Ridley) or one block west (at Purcell).

July 3 - Stops out of service - Mona Drive at Rockwood

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stops on Mona Drive (both sides) at Rockwood will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 15 buses one block north (at Humberside) or one block south (at Lynwood/Dunham).

July 3 - Stop out of service - Bagot Street at Barrie

Effective at start of service on Monday, July 3, the bus stop on Bagot Street (north side) at Barrie will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 1, 2, and 18 buses at the accessible stop on Bagot at West (one block east).

June 30 - Stop out of service - Ontario Street at City Hall

Effective at start of service on Friday, June 30, the bus stop on Ontario Street (east side) at City Hall will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 3 buses at the accessible stop/shelter on Brock (north side) at City Hall, one-half block north and one-half block west.

June 7 - Stop out of service - Bagot at Johnson (east side)

Effective at start of service on Wednesday, June 7, the bus stop on Bagot (east side) at Johnson will be permanently removed from service.  Please board Route 1 and 2 buses at the Downtown Transfer Point on Bagot (east side), north of Brock (one block north).

May 19 - Centennial Drive at Atkinson

The Route 14 detour via Atkinson and Halifax has resumed, and will continue until further notice. From the intersection of Centennial and Atkinson, Route 14 buses will detour east on Atkinson, south on Halifax, and east on Crossfield to return to regular route.  The bus stop on Centennial and Atkinson will be out of service during this time; a non-accessible temporary stop will be provided on Halifax, south of Atkinson.

April 10 – Schedule change – 11:11 p.m. trip from Downtown Transfer Point

Effective Monday, April 10, the 11:11 p.m. Express Route 701 departure from Downtown Transfer Point will wait until 11:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday in order to allow transfers from Routes 1 and 4.
