Labour Day Weekend: closures, service impacts, and more!

Learn how the Labour Day weekend will impact services, programs and facility hours on Monday, Sept. 1 for the City of Kingston, Utilities Kingston and other community organizations. 

Scheduling impacts:

  • Garbage and green bin: There is no collection on Sept. 1. Collection occurs the day after your regular collection day. Sign-up to receive collection reminders by phone, push notification, or email – or get the FREE “Kingston Waste” app on your Apple or Android device.
  • Kingston Area Recycling Centre: Closed.
  • Kingston Transit: A Sunday schedule will be in effect.
  • Kingston Access Services: Limited on-road service will be available. The trip reservation office will be open from 7:30am to 11:30am.  Please call 613-542-2512 for additional information, or check their Facebook page.
  • Administrative Offices (including Housing and Social Services and Provincial Offences Court on Montreal Street): Closed.
  • Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro: Closed. Customers experiencing a utility emergency such as a gas leak, power outage, or water main break, please call the 24-hour emergency line at 613-546-1181.   • Recreation Facilities:
    • INVISTA Centre/Arenas: Closed 
    • Artillery Park Aquatic Centre: Closed 
    • Rideau Heights Community Centre: Closed 
    • Kingston East Community Centre: Closed 
    • Culligan Water Park: Open.
  • Kingston Frontenac Public Library: Closed. Services and digital collections can be accessed online. Don’t have a library card? Register online. 
  • Portsmouth Olympic HarbourOpen. 
  • Confederation Basin Marina Office and Laundry Facilities: Closed (Marina docks and boater washrooms/showers still available via gate code).
  • Kingston Grand Theatre: Closed.
  • PumpHouse Museum: Closed.    
  • Tett Centre: Closed.
