Weekly traffic report: Aug. 1 - 7

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to allow for off-schedule openings of the main marine navigation channel during the following periods: 

  • Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

  • Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 

These marine openings are required to allow a commercial vessel to access drydock services within Kingston’s inner harbour on an urgent basis

  • Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

  • Time:  6 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

Fall 

Dates: 

  • Sept. 21 

  • Oct. 5, 14, 19 

  • Nov. 2, 16 

  • Time:  6 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

 Road Closures   

  • Aberdeen Street - William to Johnson – closed to accommodate construction activity and staging.
  • Aberdeen Street – William to Earl – closed until Aug. 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day for boulevard reinstatement work.
  • Abbey Dawn Road – Hwy 2 to Middle – closed until Aug. 15 for the removal and replacement of a culvert.
  • Albert Street – Princess to Mack – closed to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St.
  • Barrie Street – Queen to Colborne – closed for construction related activity at 283 Queen St.
  • Carleton Street – Alfred to Guy – closed until Aug. 8 for a gas main installation.
  • Cataraqui Woods Drive – Woodhaven to Tenley – closed until Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day for roundabout upgrades.
  • Earl Street – Collingwood to Toronto – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
  • Guy Street – Carleton to Division – closed until Aug. 8 for a gas main installation.
  • Johnson Street – Victoria to University – closed July 29 to Aug. 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day for road resurfacing.
  • Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the Rolling Barrage PTSD Foundation Ride event.
  • Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed Aug. 8 at 8 a.m. to Aug. 10 at 3 p.m. for the 1000 Islands Kingston Poker Run event.
  • Princess Street – Barrie to Ontario – closed Aug. 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Princess Street Promenade. Please note the intersections of Princess St and Barrie St and Princess St and Bagot St will remain open throughout the event.
  • South Bartlett Street – Smith to Victoria - closed until Aug. 29 for construction related activity at 655 Princess St.
  • Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Oct. 3 for the Sydenham Street Community Space.
  • Union Street – Albert to University – closed Aug. 6 to 13 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for road resurfacing.
  • Victoria Street - Union St to Johnson St – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
  • Victoria Street – Princess to North Bartlett – closed until Aug. 29 for construction related activity at 655 Princess St.
  • Wise Street – Woodbine to Megan’s – closed until July 31 to accommodate construction of a new sidewalk and road improvements.
  • Woodburn Road – Hitchcock to White Church – closed for a contractor to complete culver re-lining. 

Parking Disruption  

The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to conclude in August 2025. At all times during construction efforts are being made to ensure approximately 200 spaces remain available for parkers.   

Other Delays  

  • Bayridge Drive – Milford to Henderson – expect delays for the construction of new active transportation infrastructure and intersection upgrades.
  • Cataraqui Woods Drive – Centennial to Gardiners – expect delays for the construction of new Multi-Use Pathway.
  • Front Road – Sand Bay to Country Club – expect delays for the installation of Sanitary and Water main for Utilities Kingston. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Please be aware of lane shifts, traffic speed limits, and share the lane signage.
  • Gardiners Road – at Centennial/Creekford - expect delays while a contractor completes intersection widening, traffic signal upgrades and cycling and pedestrian improvements.
  • Highway 2 – Abbey Dawn to St. Lawrence – expect delays to complete enhanced flood protection of Abbey Dawn Road, Highway 2, and St. Lawrence Avenue.
  • Highway 15 – Kingston Mills to Middle – expect delays for a contractor to complete work on the Hwy 15 CNR overhead structure.
  • Lancaster Drive – Limestone to Jasper – expect delays while a contractor completes construction of a new sidewalk and road improvements.
  • Montreal Street – at John Counter - expect delays for upgrades to the intersection including new lighting, traffic signals, lanes, paving and signage to improve safety and efficiency for all road users and accommodate increased traffic from the Waaban Crossing.
  • Victoria Street and Earl Street - expect delays while a contractor mobilizes to site to start work on the second phase of reconstruction of sewer, watermain, sidewalks and road.
