Celebrate community members, groups and businesses removing barriers to accessibility
Nominations are open for the City of Kingston’s 2025 Celebrating Accessibility Awards, recognizing people, businesses and community organizations making life more accessible for people with disabilities.
These awards honour actions and initiatives that break down barriers in areas of built environment, customer service, design of public spaces, education, employment, health care, information and communication, and transportation.
“Accessibility matters to our residents and to the City’s work,” says Derek Ochej, Deputy Clerk. “When you nominate someone, you’re helping share stories about the good work people are doing to make their neighbours feel seen, supported and included.”
Nominees must be Kingston residents, organizations or businesses that have positively contributed to accessibility in the past three years. Nominees should not have accessibility-related roles in their paid work or education, unless they demonstrate an exceptional accomplishment.
The City offers multiple ways to submit nominations to ensure everyone can participate. Nominations can be completed online at CityofKingston.ca/Awards or in person at City Hall (216 Ontario St.), with assistance and alternate formats available upon request.
Nominations close October 10 at 4 p.m.
Award recipients will be recognized at a ceremony on Dec. 1, 2025.
