City of Kingston Expands Aquatic Programs with Support from St. Lawrence Pools and the Pool & Hot Tub Foundation

The City of Kingston is celebrating the support of the Pool & Hot Tub Foundation and St. Lawrence Pools to deliver key aquatics programs to the community.

For the third year, the Pool & Hot Tub Foundation’s Step into Swim grant is funding Splash School, an annual initiative to give youth even more time in the water to work on swim fundamentals in a safe, fun environment. Grade 4 and 5 students from a number of local schools will have swim time and receive swimming lessons from certified instructors during school time. Through this learn-to-swim program, students will also receive a participation certificate and skills report. St. Lawence Pools has been an advocate for this partnership for the past three years, and will continue its support of City aquatics through sponsoring Aquafit programs over the next year.

“St. Lawrence Pools has been a consistent supporter for Kingston aquatic programs, and has enabled the City to access Step into Swim grant funding. In addition, it continues its commitment to support healthy recreation with an investment in Aquafit,” says Tony Gargaro, Manager, Recreation Services. “Long-term partnerships like the one we have with St. Lawrence Pools are essential to provide access to programs for healthy and safe recreation in the water.”

Aquafit is an incredibly popular program, and it plays a critical role in supporting health, rehabilitation and wellness in our community. In order to address a gap of certified instructors to match community demand, the City will soon be offering an Aquafit Instructor Certification Course which will be available to the public in the coming months, thanks to the support of St. Lawrence Pools.

“At St. Lawrence Pools, our mission has always been to bring families together. For more than 54 years, we’ve proudly built and serviced pools across Kingston — from community landmarks like Artillery Park and YMCA pools to thousands of backyard oases — all with the goal of creating lifelong swimming memories,” says Chuck Dickison, local owner and operator of St. Lawrence Pools. “We are deeply honoured to support aquatics programs through the City of Kingston, helping even more swimmers of all ages enjoy safe and fun summers by the pool.”
