Community perspective sought to inform Child Care and Early Years planning
Parents, caregivers, educators and community partners across Kingston-Frontenac are invited to share their experiences with child care and early years services through a short survey.
The feedback collected will help inform the 5-Year Service System Plan (2025–2029) for licensed child care and early years programs for children aged 0-12. The plan is being developed to reflect local needs and priorities, as part of the City’s legislated role under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
“Understanding the lived experiences of those who rely on -- and deliver – child care and early years services is essential,” said Jayne Hartley, Director of Housing and Social Services with the City of Kingston. “This input helps ensure the system continues to meet the needs of our communities.”
The survey invites feedback on five key areas:
- Workforce Strategy & Professional Development
- Strategic Partnerships & Advocacy
- System Access & Equity
- Operator Support & Capacity
- Data Monitoring, Reporting & Accountability
Residents can complete the survey by Sept. 30, 2025, on Get Involved Kingston. Alternate formats are available by emailing GetInvolved@CityofKingston.ca or calling 613-546-0000.
The Child Care & Early Years System Plan is being developed in collaboration with Optimus SBR and will be informed by engagement with families, service providers, Indigenous and Francophone partners, and frontline staff.
Insights from the 2024 Child Care and Early Years Program Survey, which included feedback from over 500 parents and caregivers, are also being considered.
