Kingston City Council approves naming rights renewal for Homestead Baby Grand Theatre
The City of Kingston is pleased to announce that last night, Kingston City Council approved the renewal of Homestead Land Holdings Limited naming rights for the Baby Grand Theatre for an additional three-year term.
Homestead Land Holdings has been a long-time supporter of Kingston Grand Theatre. In 2004, Kingston City Council authorized a community-led fundraising campaign to restore the historic venue, resulting in the creation of the Grand Theatre Restoration Foundation, a charitable trust established to lead the effort.
Through that campaign, the Foundation successfully raised $3.35 million in support of the restoration project. As part of this initiative, a series of naming rights opportunities were introduced to recognize significant community contributions.
The Homestead Baby Grand Theatre, nestled within Kingston Grand Theatre, is an intimate performance space beloved by the Kingston community. With its cozy seating and immersive acoustics, it offers audiences a close-up, immersive theatrical experience. Often used for smaller productions, recitals, and experimental performances, the Homestead Baby Grand Theatre allows artists and audiences to connect in this intimate space.
With this renewal, Homestead Land Holdings will continue its association with the Baby Grand Theatre through to 2028. This renewed commitment aligns with the Britton Smith Foundation’s concurrent three-year investment of $30,000 annually (2025–2027) in support of the Grand OnStage School Performances program. This program helps thousands of local students experience live theatre each year by offsetting ticket and transportation costs. The Britton Smith Foundation is a nonprofit organization affiliated with Homestead Land Holdings Limited.
“Homestead Land Holdings has been a dedicated supporter of the arts in Kingston for decades,” said Danika Lochhead, Director, Arts & Culture Services. “Its continued partnership helps ensure that Homestead Baby Grand Theatre remains a vibrant performing arts space for our community.”
