Kingston Transit implements changes in the new year to prioritize consistent, reliable service

Starting Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, Kingston Transit will implement several service changes as part of continued adjustments to maintain reliability across its network. “After making necessary adjustments in October to improve reliability, we are now refining some of the existing service to better ensure predictable service for passengers this winter,” says Ian Semple, Commissioner, Transportation and Infrastructure Services. “These changes build on improvements introduced earlier in 2025 and support a stable, reliable transit network as operating conditions continue to evolve.”

The upcoming service changes will benefit transit customers by:

  • Maintaining service coverage across the city to provide consistent, reliable transportation to customers, and
  • Restoring service levels on several express routes to offer more frequent trips during peak periods.

Service highlights

Highlights of the service changes include:

  • Express 501/502 will provide 12-minute service or better during weekday peaks, and every 15 minutes midday.
  • Express 701/702 will provide 15-minute service during weekday peak periods.
  • Routes 1, 2, 11, 13, 14 and 31/32 will remain at current service levels, including hourly service during certain evening and weekend periods.
  • The routing adjustments made in October to Routes 2, 6, 22 and 31/32 to improve reliability during construction will continue into 2026.
  • Routes 11 and 15 will resume service to the Gardiners Centre.
  • Route 16A/16B (weekday) will be discontinued after Dec. 19 and combined with Route 16, routing along Van Order Drive.
