Lest We Forget: Remembrance Day Civic Ceremony and service impacts

Each year, we observe Remembrance Day on Nov. 11 to honour and commemorate those who have served, and continue to serve, in the Canadian armed forces. It is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping missions, and their families.

We also honour the contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis veterans on Indigenous Veterans Day, Nov. 8.

Civic Service of Remembrance

On Tuesday, Nov. 11, the community is invited to gather for the bilingual Civic Service of Remembrance at the Cross of Sacrifice Cenotaph located in Macdonald Park (King Street East and George Street). Seating will be available for veterans and people with disabilities, and an ASL interpreter will be present.

  • 9:15 a.m. Community wreath laying ceremony
  • 10:15 a.m. Veterans and military groups wreath laying ceremony
