Overnight Warming Centre to open at The Salvation Army Kingston Citadel Community Services on Patrick Street
With temperatures forecasted to drop to being consistently below –20°C with windchill this weekend, City staff are preparing to open a temporary overnight Warming Centre.
The Warming Centre will operate from 9:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. on the nights of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (February 6–8, 2026) at the Salvation Army site, 342 Patrick Street.
The Salvation Army Warming Centre will be working closely with Shelter operators and community partners to support individuals in accessing indoor spaces during this extreme weather event.
Individuals who access the Salvation Army Warming Centre will be welcomed and where possible connected to an available shelter bed where they can access a breadth of supports and resources. The site itself will have chairs, cots, blankets, warm beverages and snacks.
The opening of a temporary warming centre during extreme weather events is part of the City of Kingston Winter Services Response Plan 2025-2026, which provides additional overnight opportunities in support of people experiencing homelessness during the winter season to be warm and safe.
