Thanksgiving is Monday, Oct. 13: municipal closures and service changes

Learn how the Monday, Oct. 13 Thanksgiving holiday impacts services, programs and facility hours for the City of Kingston and Utilities Kingston: 

  • Garbage, green bin and recycling: There is no collection on Oct. 13. Collection occurs the day after your regular collection day. Sign-up to receive collection reminders by phone, push notification, or email – or get the FREE “Kingston Waste” app on your Apple or Android device.
  • Kingston Area Recycling Centre: Recycling depot closed. Administrative building closed permanently as of Tuesday, Sept. 30. Please read our previous news release for which services will be offered until the end of 2025.
  • Kingston Transit: All buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday, except for Express 601/602, which will be replaced by Route 60.
  • Kingston Access Services: Operates with limited service on Monday. Call 613-542-2512 for schedules and more information. The trip reservation office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Administrative Offices (including Housing and Social Services on Montreal Street and Provincial Offences): Closed.
  • Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro: Closed Monday. Customers experiencing a utility emergency such as a gas leak, power outage, or water main break, please call the 24-hour emergency line at 613-546-1181.   • Recreation Facilities:
    • INVISTA Centre/Arenas: Closed
    • Artillery Park Aquatic Centre: Closed
    • Rideau Heights Community Centre: Closed
    • Kingston East Community Centre: Closed
    • Culligan Water Park: Closed
  • Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour marinas: The Confederation Basin marina office is closed. The fueling stations are open at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, but the office will be closed on Monday.
  • Kingston Grand Theatre Box Office: Closed on Monday.
  • PumpHouse Museum: Closed Saturday.
