Weekly Traffic Report: May 30 – June 5

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians: review the listing of streets and related messages below for travel information of interest to you.  

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to allow for the temporary opening of the main marine navigation channel during the following periods: 

  • Saturday, May 31, from 6 am to 8 pm 

During these periods, the removal of the modular bridge will begin at 6 am, with the marine channel expected to be open by 9 am. The marine channel will be closed at 5 pm to reinstall the bridge. The causeway is expected to reopen to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians by 8 pm. 

Road Closures

  • Albert Street – Princess to Mack – closed to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St.
  • Aberdeen Street - William to Johnson – Closed to accommodate construction activity and staging.
  • Aberdeen Street – William to Earl – closed June 4, 5 and 11 for paving operations. 
  • Barrie Street – Queen to Colborne – closed for construction related activity at 283 Queen St. 
  • Cassidy Street – Montreal to Maple – closed until June 6 as part of the ongoing intersection improvements of Montreal and John Counter.
  • Earl Street – Collingwood to Toronto – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
  • Kirkpatrick Street – Kingscourt to Ruskin/Brant – closed May 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the The Kilometers for Kids – Run • Walk • Roll for KidsInclusive.
  • MacCauley Street – Daly to Rideau Heights Community Centre West Entrance – closed June 7 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Inclusive Play Project Fun Fair at the Rideau Heights Community Centre. 
  • South Bartlett Street – Smith to Victoria - closed until Aug. 29 for construction related activity at 655 Princess St. 
  • Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Oct. 3 for the Sydenham Street Community Space. 
  • Victoria Street - Union St to Johnson St – Closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
  • Victoria Street – Princess to North Bartlett – closed until Aug. 29 for construction related activity at 655 Princess St. 

Parking Disruption  

The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to conclude in August 2025. At all times during construction efforts are being made to ensure approximately 200 spaces remain available for parkers.     

Gorsline Parking Lot

The paving work at the Gorsline Lot will be resuming on Monday, May 5th. The project will include installing concrete curbs, replacing barriers and a final coat of asphalt. The project will be split in 2 phases, each phase will take about 3 or 4 weeks to complete, the project is scheduled for competion at the end of June. The northwest half of the parking lot will be closed during the first phase and the southeast side of the lot during the second phase. Approximately 50 parking spaces will remain available during the construction. 

Other Delays 

  • Abbey Dawn Road – Middle to Hwy 2 - expect delays while a contractor is completing asphalt patching work in preparation for the Annual Surface Treatment contract. 
  • Bayridge Drive – Milford to Henderson – expect delays for the construction of new active transportation infrastructure and intersection upgrades. 
  • Collins Bay Road – Woodbine to Princess – expect delays while a contractor completes landscaping work on Collins Bay Road.
  • Front Road – Sand Bay to Country Club – expect delays for the installation of Sanitary and Water main for Utilities Kingston. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  Please be aware of lane shifts, traffic speed limits, and share the lane signage. 
  • Gardiners Road – at Centennial/Creekford - expect delays beginning Apr. 7 while a contractor completes intersection widening, traffic signal upgrades and cycling and pedestrian improvements. 
  • Highway 2 – Abbey Dawn to St. Lawrence – expect delays to complete enhanced flood protection of Abbey Dawn Road, Highway 2, and St. Lawrence Avenue.
  • Highway 15 – Kingston Mills to Middle – expect delays for a contractor to complete work on the Hwy 15 CNR overhead structure. 
  • Montreal Street – at John Counter - expect delays for upgrades to the intersection including new lighting, traffic signals, lanes, paving and signage to improve safety and efficiency for all road users and accommodate increased traffic from the Waaban Crossing.
  • Paige Road – Jackson Mills to End of Jackson Mills – expect delays while a contractor is completing work on the Annual Surface Treatment contract.
  • Quabbin Road – Hwy 38 to Unity - expect delays while a contractor is completing asphalt patching work in preparation for the Annual Surface Treatment contract.
  • Rock Road – Unity to Hwy 38 – expect delays while a contactor is completing work on the Annual Surface Treatment contract. 
  • Victoria Street and Earl Street - expect delays while a contractor mobilizes to site to start work on the second phase of reconstruction of sewer, watermain, sidewalks and road.
