Weekly traffic report: Oct. 10 - 17

As a result of the causeway closure on Oct. 14, increased congestion is anticipated at the Waaban Crossing's main intersections. At the Montreal Street-John Counter Boulevard intersection, all left turning lanes will be open for traffic use on Oct. 14 due to recently completed paving and painting. This is expected to help reduce congestion, but road users are asked to be patient and plan for additional commuting time.
Please note that after Tuesday, Oct. 14, there will be more lane closures to accommodate remaining construction work.
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians to allow for the temporary opening of the main marine navigation channel during the following periods:

Road Closures
- Aberdeen Street - William to Johnson – closed to accommodate construction activity and staging.
- Albert Street – Princess to Mack – closed to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St.
- Barrie Street – Queen to Colborne – closed for construction related activity at 283 Queen St.
- Barrie Street – King St W to Stuart – closed Oct 14 to 18 from 9am to 3pm to accommodate ongoing construction project.
- Earl Street – Collingwood to Toronto – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
- Johnson Street – at Victoria – closed until Oct. 24 for sewer separation and road rehabilitation.
- Kingscourt Ave – Concession St and First Ave – closed Oct 10 to Nov 21 for gas main installation by the Utilities Kingston contractor.
- Lincoln Drive – at Bayridge – closed until October 10 for the construction of new active transportation infrastructure.
- Nelson St – Frist Ave and Concession St – closed Oct 10 from 10am to 6pm for emergency water main repairs being carried out by Utilities Kingston.
- Queen Street - Wellington Street and King Street - westbound lanes closed Oct 14 to 17 from 7am to 7pm for the installation of new services.
- Ontario Street – Brock to Clarence – closed Oct 14 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate the removal of planters on Ontario St.
- Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Oct. 24 for the Sydenham Street Community Space.
- Tivoli Avenue – Midland to Sierra – closed Sept. 29 to Oct. 17 for the installation of new services.
- Wellington Street – Queen to Barrack – closed Oct 14 to 17 from 7am to 7pm for installation of new services.
- Victoria Street - Union St to Johnson St – closed for sewer separation and road rehabilitation work.
Other Delays
- Bayridge Drive – Milford to Henderson – expect delays for the construction of new active transportation infrastructure and intersection upgrades.
- Cataraqui Woods Drive – Centennial to Gardiners – expect delays for the construction of a new Multi-Use Pathway.
- Front Road – Sand Bay to Country Club – expect delays for the installation of Sanitary and Water main for Utilities Kingston. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Please be aware of lane shifts, traffic speed limits, and share the lane signage.
- Highway 15 – Kingston Mills to Middle – expect delays for a contractor to complete work on the Hwy 15 CNR overhead structure.
- John Marks Avenue and Innovation Drive – expect delays while a contractor mobilizes to start work on John Marks Ave, Innovation Dr and Discovery Ave. Work includes curb, sidewalk, asphalt milling and repaving.
- Lancaster Drive – Limestone to Jasper – expect delays while a contractor completes construction of a new sidewalk and road improvements.
- Montreal Street – at John Counter - expect delays for upgrades to the intersection including new lighting, traffic signals, lanes, paving and signage to improve safety and efficiency for all road users and accommodate increased traffic from the Waaban Crossing.
- Truedell Road – Development to Danbury – expect delays while a contractor completes road and sidewalk improvements.
- Victoria Street and Earl Street - expect delays while a contractor mobilizes to site to start work on the second phase of reconstruction of sewer, watermain, sidewalks and road.
