Call for Expression of Interest: Apply to Participate in the 2026 Intercultural Arts Festival and Welcome to Kingston fair

The City of Kingston is inviting local ethnocultural community groups, artists, performers and vendors to submit an expression of interest to participate in the 2026 Intercultural Arts Festival (ICAF) and Welcome to Kingston fair.

Taking place on Sunday, Sept. 20 at Confederation Park, the Intercultural Arts Festival is an annual celebration of Kingston’s cultural diversity. The event features live performances, cultural pavilions, community exhibits, artisan vendors and international cuisine, creating opportunities for residents and visitors to connect, learn and celebrate together. The festival will also incorporate the City’s Welcome to Kingston fair, providing information, resources and connections for newcomers to the community.

The festival is delivered by the City’s Arts & Culture Services department and Special Events Office, in collaboration with an ethnocultural community planning committee and the City’s Community Development, Wellbeing & IIDEA department and EDI Office.

“The Intercultural Arts Festival reflects the diverse cultures and voices that make Kingston such a vibrant community,” says Megan Sirett, Manager, Events and Programs in Arts & Culture Services at the City of Kingston. “We invite community groups, artists, and vendors to share their traditions, talents and stories, and help create a welcoming and dynamic experience for all.”

Participants will be selected with input from the festival’s ethnocultural community planning committee to support a balanced, engaging and inclusive event. Selection will be based on alignment with the festival’s purpose, community connection, and in consideration of operational feasibility within the event site.

Opportunities to participate include:

  • Cultural pavilions representing specific traditions or communities
  • Artisan and food vendors
  • Community organizations sharing programs and services
  • Live artistic performances, including music, dance, theatre and storytelling

Community members interested in participating are encouraged to complete the Expression of Interest form by Monday, July 13 at 5 p.m.
