City advances connected, accessible waterfront with purchase of 2000 Front Rd.
Exciting news for Kingston’s waterfront, conservation and our shared future! The City of Kingston is moving forward with purchasing the property at 2000 Front Rd., known to many as Lemoine Point Farm.
This acquisition results from a court-approved settlement reached after years of confidential negotiations related to the property. With the settlement now finalized, the City is pleased to share this positive outcome with the community.
This purchase advances an ongoing priority to create a more connected, accessible waterfront.
Acquiring this approximately 80-acre property for $12 million provides flexibility to keep the land open to the public and to ensure it is protected as we plan for its long-term use with input from the community.
We recognize that this location is significant to Kingston. As we consider its future, the City will pursue partnerships with organizations such as the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) and other not-for-profit groups.
“These partnerships will help ensure the property remains a welcoming and sustainable space,” says Mayor Bryan Paterson. “We’re grateful for the chance to protect this important piece of local waterfront, and we look forward to working with residents to imagine what the future of Lemoine Point Farm will look like.”
More detailed information will be provided in a Council report on March 24, 2026.
