City celebrates six outstanding volunteers with 2025 Civic Awards

Each year, the City of Kingston’s Civic Awards celebrate volunteers who go above and beyond to strengthen their communities in areas such as culture, heritage, recreation, sports, health, education, environment, safety and business. The six 2025 recipients have made lasting contributions - often behind the scenes, always with heart.

The City is honoured to celebrate these recipients of the 2025 Civic Awards:

  • First Capital Distinguished Citizen: Kate Thomas
  • First Capital Honourable Achievement Award: Judi Cova and Peter Kingston
  • Mayor’s Award for Youth Volunteerism: Zoé Leduc, Abigail Champagne and Natalie Kearn

“I’m delighted that we can honour these outstanding volunteers and thank them for their exceptional service to our community,” says Mayor Bryan Paterson. “These individuals selflessly give their time, energy and talents - not for recognition, but because they genuinely care about making a difference. Their generosity of spirit is what strengthens our community and brings lasting change.”

The City of Kingston acknowledges that we are on the traditional homeland of the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, and the Huron-Wendat, and thanks these nations for their care and stewardship over this shared land.

Today, the City is committed to working with Indigenous peoples and all residents to pursue a united path of reconciliation.
