Permanent noise exemption: The Spire

The City of Kingston has received a request from The Spire, for a permanent noise exemption.
Date: Permanent noise exemption
Time: Permanent noise exemption
Location: 82 Sydenham St.
Nature of noise/request: The Spire requires a noise bylaw exemption to permit amplified music and sound associated with concerts, performances and special events that may extend beyond the standard noise bylaw limits. As an established downtown cultural and performance venue, The Spire regularly hosts community, cultural and live music events. The exemption will allow these events to operate while enabling the venue to manage sound responsibly and minimize impacts on surrounding properties and residents.
Please note that since this is a permanent noise exemption, a report will be taken to City Council on Oct. 2, 2026, for their consideration. Your feedback will be a part of that report with names redacted.
We invite the public to submit any comments or concerns regarding this noise exemption request. Please direct feedback to Steve Mothersell, Manager, Enforcement Services (SMothersell@cityofkingston.ca), by Aug. 31, 2026 at 4 p.m.
