Nature of noise/request: Sept. 21–27 marks Consent Week at Queen's, an initiative that takes place across Canada to encourage a culture of consent on post-secondary campuses. This is ran during these dates as first six weeks of the academic year are often referred to as the "Red Zone" as this is the period when the highest rates of sexual violence occur. One of our featured initiatives is an outdoor movie night on Tindall Field. During the film, students will be invited to raise red or green flags in response to the characters' actions. This interactive activity demonstrates how consent is communicated and practiced in everyday situations, encouraging students to think about consent in every aspect of their lives. By fostering these conversations in an engaging and accessible way, we hope to promote a safer, more respectful campus culture. We are requesting a noise exemption for this event, as amplified sound will be required to play the movie for attendees gathered on Tindall Field. The use of little speakers is essential to ensure participants can hear the film and fully engage with the interactive consent education activity.
Time: 3-10 p.m.
