Thanksgiving 2026: municipal closures and service changes
Learn how the Monday, Oct. 12 Thanksgiving holiday impacts services, programs and facility hours for the City of Kingston and Utilities Kingston:
- Garbage and green bin: There is no collection on Oct. 12. Collection occurs the day after your regular collection day. Sign-up to receive collection reminders by phone, push notification, or email – or get the free “Kingston Waste” app on your Apple or Android device through our Collection Calendar webpage.
- Kingston Disposal Site (189 Lappan's Lane): Closed.
- Kingston Transit: All buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday, except for Express 601/602, which will be replaced by Route 60.
- Kingston Access Services: Operates with limited service on Monday. Call 613-542-2512 for schedules and more information. The trip reservation office is open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
- Administrative Offices (including Housing and Social Services on Montreal Street and Provincial Offences): Closed.
- Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro: Closed Monday. Customers experiencing a utility emergency such as a gas leak, power outage, or water main break, please call the 24-hour emergency line at 613-546-1181. - Recreation Facilities:
- INVISTA Centre/Arenas: Closed
- Artillery Park Aquatic Centre: Closed
- Rideau Heights Community Centre: Closed
- Kingston East Community Centre: Closed
- Culligan Water Park: Closed
- Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Marinas: Closed.
- Kingston Grand Theatre Box Office: Closed on Monday.
- PumpHouse Museum: Regular hours.
- Kingston Frontenac Public Library: All library branches are closed.
