Utilities Kingston receives Public Safety Excellence Award

Utilities Kingston has been named the winner of the Public Safety Excellence Award, sponsored by the Electrical Safety Authority, highlighting the organization’s outstanding commitment to community and workplace safety.

“Safety is at the heart of everything we do, and this award reflects the dedication of our team to creating safer communities and workplaces,” says David Fell, President and Chief Executive Officer at Utilities Kingston. “Through initiatives like Safety Days, we engage our employees and the public in meaningful, hands-on learning that reinforces safe behaviours and a strong safety culture.”

The recognition follows a nomination submitted by Utilities Kingston’s Health and Safety team, who play a pivotal role in driving safety initiatives and maintaining high standards across the organization. Safety Days alone engaged more than 500 participants, providing practical education that fosters cultural and behavioural change around electrical safety.

This award builds on Utilities Kingston’s ongoing commitment to safety and community engagement. In recent years, the organization has been recognized for workplace safety excellence, including being named one of Canada’s Best Safety Cultures in the Workplace in 2025 and receiving a Silver Award from OHS Canada for contractor safety management.

“These achievements are possible because of the dedication, care, and expertise of every member of our team,” says Fell. “By working together, prioritizing safety, and sharing knowledge, we continue to protect our community and each other every day.”
